Are The Chicago Bulls Fun Again?
The Chicago Bulls are a fun team. No, don’t bother double-checking your calendars. It’s not the 1990s or the early 2010s; it really is March 2025, and the Bulls are seemingly on top of the world again. A buzzer-beating, half-court three from Josh Giddey capped off the Bulls’ 119-117 comeback victory over the Los Angeles Lakers Thursday night. From the looks of the United Center that evening, you would never know that this same team won just three games last month.
Zach Lavine's Departure, and What's Next for the Chicago Bulls
I will this article with some good news and some bad news. The good: the Chicago Bulls have finally made a move that indicates they’re moving towards a full rebuild! The bad: they got a somewhat underwhelming deal for a longtime coveted superstar of theirs. Zach Lavine, the franchise’s centerpiece since acquiring him from Minnesota in 2017, is heading to Sacramento in a three-team deal. This trade also sends De’Aaron Fox to San Antonio amongst a myriad of other players and scattered draft picks.
Onuralp Bitim's Rise to the Top
Back in November, I was fortunate enough to attend the media day for the Windy City Bulls. The G League affiliate of Chicago had plenty of recognizable names up and down the roster, including UConn’s Adama Sanogo and longtime big man Derrick Favors. I spoke to much of the roster to get their thoughts on the upcoming year and was overjoyed at getting to talk to so many guys I saw ball out in college or previously in the NBA.
2023-24 NBA Mid-Season Reports: Northwest Division
To begin the NBA season, our staff writers took a stab at previewing each team and their division. While some predictions and prognostications have panned out, there is plenty that has been surprising. This week, our writers will again break down the league, team by team, in order to get ready for the rest of the NBA season. We hope to give insight into where teams are at this point in the year, and with the trade deadline right around the corner, we will try to forecast what move lies ahead.
2023-24 NBA Mid-Season Reports: Central Division

Coby White's Emergence
Coby White entered the NBA at quite a tumultuous time, both for the franchise that drafted him and the league itself. The Jim Boylen-led Chicago Bulls went 22-43 in the pandemic-shortened 2020 season. The team’s future looked bleak, and of course, there was a freaking pandemic after all. Fast forward to today, and Coby White is leading the Bulls through a mid-season turnaround after an abysmal 5-14 start.
Untapped Potential: Derrick Rose
On April 28th, 2012, Derrick Rose fell. The raucous Chicago crowd’s cheers and jeers quickly turned to silent thoughts and prayers as the point guard writhed in pain on the baseline. Did that really just happen? Our best player injures himself in the final 90 seconds of a playoff game where victory was guaranteed? The Bulls would finish the last minute of the game en route to a win over the 76ers, but that wasn’t the story making the front page.
Windy City Bulls 2023/24 Preview
It’s time for more basketball in Chi-Town! Well, technically, the Windy City Bulls play in Hoffman Estates, which is about 40 minutes outside of downtown Chicago. But by the end of this article, I’m sure you’ll agree that a drive out to NOW Arena to watch them play will be more than worth it. The Windy City Bulls held the 2023 edition of their annual media day last week.
Are the Bulls Finally Blowing Up their Core?
One week into the season, the Chicago Bulls sit at 2-3 after a tough road loss against the Dallas Mavericks. The season highs of Zach Lavine scoring a career-high 51 and vintage-looking clutch basketball from DeMar DeRozan are equally offset by Nikola Vucevic’s argument with head coach Billy Donovan and the apparent need for a players-only meeting after one game.
BSP NBA Season Preview: Northwest Division
To kick off our 2023-2024 NBA season coverage, Back Sports Page will preview all 30 NBA teams for the upcoming year. However, unlike years past, our previews will be put out according to their respective divisions. In our fourth preview edition, our staff looked at the Southwest division and broke down each of the five teams. Our basketball staff turned their attention to the Northwest division in this piece.
BSP NBA Season Preview: Central Division
To kick off our 2023-2024 NBA season coverage, Back Sports Page will preview all 30 NBA teams for the upcoming year. Different from years past, however, our previews will be put out according to their respective divisions. In our second edition, our staff looked at the Atlantic division and broke down each of the five teams. As for the Central division, the five teams all have vastly different expectations and rosters.
30 Minutes with Chuck Swirsky: 3-Pointers, Conference Realignment, and Salami & Cheese
From the days of black-and-white televised games with no more than 10 teams in the league all the way to today’s stepback threes and Twitter beefs, one thing has remained the same: Chuck Swirsky loves the NBA and the game of basketball.
Examining The Chicago Bulls Offseason
Last season for the Chicago Bulls was a bit… disappointing. Limping into the last play-in spot in the Eastern Conference at 40-42, the Bulls managed to nearly steal the final spot in the playoffs before falling to the eventual Eastern Conference champions, the Miami Heat. It was clear that moves had to be made this offseason to revitalize the roster in hopes of making a run at contention.
Denver Nuggets End-of-Season Report
The Denver Nuggets are ringless no longer! After taking down the Miami Heat in 5 games and having quite the celebration tour, the Nuggets are coasting into next NBA season as one of the favorites to once again win the title. But before we look ahead to the future, let’s recap how this Nuggets team was able to cap off their historic run. Expectations: This season was the first time where the Nuggets were going to show their potential can be when at full-strength.
Toronto Raptors End-of-Season Report
The Toronto Raptors’ season has come to an end. Their loss to the Chicago Bulls in the play-in tournament acts as a perfect representation of this year. A 19-point lead was squandered in the second half and opportunities to salvage a win came up short (and that’s before mentioning their abysmal 50% free throw percentage). Their 41-41 finish in the regular season doesn’t quite scream ineptitude at first, but their disappointing exit marks the likely end of an era for Canada’s NBA team.
Chicago Bulls End-of-Season Report
The Chicago Bulls are no longer seeing red. The tumultuous season for the Bulls officially came to an end with their loss to the Miami Heat in the play-in tournament. Sure, we can talk about their play-in win against the Toronto Raptors, even though their most valuable asset in that game was likely Diar DeRozan. A mediocre 40-42 regular season now makes 5 losing seasons out of the last 6. Every step forward has been met with an equidistant step back.
Oklahoma City Thunder Mid-Season Report
Not a lot was expected out of the Oklahoma City Thunder this NBA season. They were coming off of a mediocre 24 win season with a roster of guys all younger than 29 years of age. Their prized draft selection, 7-footer Chet Holmgren, was to be out for the season with a foot injury he suffered in the preseason. Certainly, this was a team that was poised to make a run in the Victor Wembanyama sweepstakes, right? The Thunder clearly did not get that message.
Toronto Raptors Mid-Season Report
. The Toronto Raptors are only four years removed from their legendary title run. While they may no longer have the likes of Kawhi Leonard and Kyle Lowry on their roster, they fought their way to the 5th seed in the Eastern Conference last season, eventually falling to Joel Embiid and the 76ers in the first round. However, there was much to look forward to for this upcoming season.
Indiana Pacers Mid-Season Report
The Indiana Pacers current record is not a reliable indicator of their performance and this years campaign could not possibly be considered a disappointment. This is a team that oddsmakers expected to only win 25 games all season. However, at the halfway point of the season, this Pacers squad was sixth in the Eastern Conference with an impressive 23 wins and 18 losses.
2023 NBA Slam Dunk Contest Preview
William Shakespeare famously quipped that “all the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players.” Nowhere in the world of sports is this more true than during the NBA Slam Dunk Contest. Witnessing some of the greatest basketball players on Earth seemingly jump out of the gym will always captivate even the most casual of hoops fans despite the waning fanfare in recent years.
Chicago Bulls Mid-Season Report
I am not sure how to start this off other than by saying this: the Chicago Bulls are a disaster. They are not disastrous in terms of pure mediocrity or ineptitude despite their recent blowout loss to the Charlotte Hornets, a team that greatly exemplifies both of those qualities. The Bulls, rather, are a flat-out disappointment. Through the halfway point of the season, the Bulls sit at 22-26. This places them just out of the play-in tournament at the eleventh seed in the Eastern Conference.
