Stop Doing (As Many) Demos
What is holding your SAAS back is something very simple and very insidious. There are some people that like to sit on Zoom Calls and watch 45 minute guided demos. God bless them. But for high performers, the 1% of the 1% they don't have the patience for the dog and pony sales show straight out of the 80s. Here's a simple solution. Keep the demo but offer immediate access via free trial to your platform.
There Will Be Data
What plagued the oil industry now plagues the data industry In the early 20th century, the oil industry was booming. Like the gold rushes before it, opportunists flooded into the sector, eager to tap into the lucrative wells that spouted black gold. This era, immortalized by the film There Will Be Blood, showed a world where oil barons fought ruthlessly for control of this precious resource. Today, a new kind of resource is driving a similar frenzy: data.
Lead Buying is Illegal In January 2025?
Not quite. But many lead buyers are going to have to change their tactics + ping post is going the way of the dodo bird. Everyone needs to become a lead generator. Period. I am not a lawyer. This is not legal advice. Check with your lawyer before doing anything ever and never trust anything you read on the Internet. I talk to so many companies that do not understand the meteor that is coming for lead buying.
Are Attorneys Really That Bad at Technology?
We all know the stereotype that lawyers are technologically illiterate – but is it true? Andy Greene, Managing Partner at Nextpoint Law Group, shares his thoughts on lawyers and tech. If you attend a presentation on legal tech, there’s a good chance that at least one of the panelists will make a joke about how lawyers are bad at adopting technology. The audience will usually laugh in knowing acknowledgement.
Air vs Ground Game
Just now Everyone in politics loves the air game. Big bold actions. Podcast interviews, radio hits, and Super Bowl ads are examples. They cover a lot of ground like a plane. You need these things in a campaign, but not to the exclusion of a ground game.
A 7 Million Dollar Dud
They raised all that money and this is the ad the Kennedy PAC came up with? A rehash of a 64-year-old ad that barely anyone remembers outside of political junkies? They aren’t going to love me saying this because it is like calling someone’s baby ugly. Will the ad raise money? yes. Does it show they know what the heck they are doing? no Will it win him many votes? no. Those who already liked him will like the ad. And undecideds have nothing to go on to move them toward the Kennedy category.

Why Vivek Lost in 2024 and What He Can Do to Win in 2028
He ran a good campaign in 2024, but here’s how he can run a winning one in 2028 Why Vivek Lost and What He Can Do to Win I’ve heard analysts and Vivek himself talk about why he lost. His takeaway was that MAGA voters didn’t quite trust him, he wasn’t well known at first, and he lost out to better-funded opponents I don’t think he failed because of the first two reasons. I think it comes down to the following: 1.
As a Presidential Campaign, the goal is not to advertise to everyone
The goal is to only to advertise to those that 1) have a high propensity to vote for you 2) a reasonable cost to reach based on their impact 3) will respond favorably to advertising. This is a nuanced but important point. You should create a voter quality score (updated in real-time) that takes into account their likelihood of voting for you. Otherwise you will spend money on ads that make your consultants a lot of money, but you won’t win as an independent candidate.
Voter Quality Score
How valuable is a voter to you? How much can you spend to reach them? Who should you avoid at all costs? A voter quality score answers all 3 questions. Traditional marketing would recommend running propensity models (who is most likely to vote for me) and uplift models (who will respond to advertising the best) to determine audiences for advertising. In politics, it is a little more complicated. You also need to take into account the value of a voter relative to your election strategy.
The Top 5 challenges of running as a 3rd party candidate and how to overcome them

Hire competent media buyers and have them send traffic to a fundraising video sales letter Stay independent. Don’t align with any party. See item #1. Once you align with a party, you will lose a percentage of voters. As a true independent, you keep yourself open to voters who would otherwise dismiss you based on the letter next to your name.
Not all electoral votes are created equal
Traditional electoral college strategies are based on Republican and Democratic politics. Thanks for reading Independent Politics! Subscribe for free to receive new posts and support my work. But when you study the Electoral College you find not all electoral votes are created equal. There is a way to “trim tab” the electoral votes in such a way that you come in 2nd or 3rd place in the electoral college, but win the election.
Twitter's Terrible Tweet Spam Problem
TLDR: Twitter bot mitigation doesn't work because the bots just change their accounts, IP, device fingerprint, or behavior. It's a game of whack a mole. Instead of using a ban/report/blacklist model, Twitter should use a whitelist model to stop 'low and slow' advanced persistent bots. Leave the blacklist model in place for anti-DDOS, but layer the whitelist on top to stop the trickier bots. Whitelisting is dangerous if you can't detect the difference between bots and humans.
