OPINION: Chicago needs its own lottery to fund public schools
The People is our section for opinions and perspectives. Submit your opinion to info@thetriibe.com. Watching the Chicago Public Schools (CPS) situation unfold is unsettling. Budget shortfalls in Chicago always mean Black and brown communities should expect and settle for less. The default position is we contribute less so we deserve less. Neither is true and frankly, most of us are tired of that narrative and baseline for all discussions. It’s time to look at our past successes for future solutions.
Dark Romantasy Books to Get Swept Away In
From the novels of Sarah J. Maas to the blockbuster success of Fourth Wing and Iron Flame, novels combining epic fantasy and romance (aka romantasy) are having a moment. Commentary: Look to Chicago's past for what its future could be
When I was young, Chicago was full of cultural communities. We would go to the West Loop corridor and get real flaming cheese in Greektown. We went to Chinatown and ate authentic Chinese food in such a densely, culturally rich community that we felt like we left the continent. We got authentic Italian pasta from Little Italy and real Ethiopian food from Wrigleyville. When we were really fancy, we had fine dining downtown. I remember my grandmother letting me order “clams casino” from Arnie’s.

This is what the Sovereign LORD says about Edom – We have heard a message from the LORD: An envoy was sent to the nations to say, Rise, let us go against her for battle.” Verse 2 – “See, I will make you small among the nations; you will be utterly despised.” The vision issues a warning from God.
