Changes to Primary End Points in Randomized Clinical Trials on Immune Checkpoint Inhibitors in Urothelial, Renal Cell, and Lung Cancers: A Systematic Review | Cancer Biomarkers | JAMA Oncology | JAMA Network
Changes to Primary End Points in Randomized Clinical Trials on Immune Checkpoint Inhibitors in Urothelial, Renal Cell, and Lung Cancers: A Systematic Review Programmed cell death 1/programmed cell death ligand 1 (PD-L1) immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) are important treatment options for many cancer types.1 Urologic and lung cancers have early and multiple Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and European Medicines Agency–approved ICIs based on randomized clinical trials (RCTs).2 To weigh...
Staging fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography for muscle‐invasive bladder cancer: a nationwide population‐based study
Clinical Data Clinical data on patient characteristics, disease, diagnostic evaluation and treatment were obtained from electronic patient files and entered in the NCR based on strict registration manuals by trained data managers. The date of first histological confirmation (i.e., TUR) of the bladder tumour was considered as the date of diagnosis. For each patient, it was recorded which hospital they were diagnosed at and where they were treated.
Global trends in the epidemiology of bladder cancer: challenges for public health and clinical practice - Nature Reviews Clinical Oncology
Abstract Bladder cancer is among the ten most common cancers globally, causes considerable morbidity and mortality and is, therefore, a substantial burden for health-care systems. The incidence of bladder cancer is affected by demographic trends, most notably population growth and ageing, as well as exposure to risk factors, especially tobacco smoking. Consequently, the incidence has not been stable throughout the world over time, nor will it be in the near future.
Hospital volume is associated with postoperative mortality after radical cystectomy for treatment of bladder cancer
Introduction Radical cystectomy (RC) as treatment for bladder cancer is a complex surgical procedure. It is the 'gold standard' in localized carcinoma invading bladder muscle (MIBC) [1], although the role of trimodal therapy is also increasing [2]. The procedure results in substantial postoperative morbidity and mortality.
The global burden of urinary bladder cancer: an update
Abstract Bladder cancer is among the top ten most common cancer types in the world, with approximately 550,000 new cases annually. The highest burden of bladder cancer is currently falling on most developed communities across the globe. But with an anticipated shift in world demographics with growing and aging populations mainly on the African continent, and important shifts in exposure to different risk factors across the world, this is likely to change over the next decades.
