We Credit the God Who Was in the Room When We Were Cured
Since my college days, I have been surrounded by people who constantly spoke about existence, God, and philosophy. Over time, as I traveled, I heard the same stories from different people. What struck me was not just their belief in God, but how they came to believe. One friend, for instance, found deep faith in Sai Baba. Another, who once had no interest in worship, became devoted to Lord Shiva, even setting out on a pilgrimage to visit all the Jyotirlingas.

This article is based on a primary survey conducted in rural areas across four districts of UP: Prayagraj, Sitapur, Bareilly, and Jhansi.
Implementing PPO for Cartpole-v1
In my last post I had tried to implement a DQN model for a Chess bot, progressing further I tried to implement PPO for a comparatively simpler problem so that I can actually measure the performance. PPO (Proximal Policy Optimization) trains an agent to model the optimal actions for a given state by leveraging an advantage function. The advantage function is computed using a critic, which evaluates how favorable a specific state and action are relative to the current policy.
PhD Diaries- Day 154-Day 196: World inside and out, Diving deep into research, Intensity of workload
Hi everyone! I am writing again after a long gap. But writing this is about primarily sharing my PhD life that I can reflect upon while looking back. So let’s all catch up. Months passes by so quickly. I cannot believe we are in March already, just one and a half month left for this semester to end. First, let me state about the courseload. Handling three four-credit courses in a semester is extremely hard, especially as a graduate student RA who is expected to conduct research every semester.
2023: An Eventful Year!
Grateful and Blessed. I believe these two words summarize 2023 perfectly for me. It was a year full of events — failures, learnings and success all taking their rightful spots, without regrets. Its admirable how an year passes by with the blink of an eye.
Family: Live - Love - Lose
Yes, I admit I took a very long gap. Schedule was hectic since the end of my very first semester. I promised to make one final post for the semester but I couldn’t while I was in Troy. Then I decided to make that final post while I would have a layover in Istanbul but the wifi was just limited for 1 hour at the airport. So, I couldn’t do it then. When I returned back to my countryside, I decided to make that final post as I was still wrapping up my last project report. But, I was with family.
Penultimate Days of Fall-2023, Lost and Found, Compass to Future, A...
Hi humans! Thank you for being with me on this journey throughout the semester. I still cannot believe I am in the last days - with only project presentations and write-ups remaining. Yes, my research is continuing too, but I will take it at a slower pace from here on, given the last busy days of the semester. This is the second last blog about this semester. I am already feeling nostalgic. The best part about this journey has been the privilege that has come with documenting titbits of it.
The Worlds I see- Dr. Fei Fei Li
Reading anything has forever been satisfying to me, except when it is forced. The intrinsic desire to just grab a book in the hand and hover over from one page to another, in equal amounts of fascination and awe is spell-binding. Yesterday, I finished reading: The Worlds I see, by Dr. Fei Fei Li, a giant in the field of Artificial Intelligence, whose background is just spread across whole of science.
My First Thanksgiving and Snowfall
This is one of the 25 poetries contained in my book linked to my profile. The Crimson Winter It has been days of many firsts: My First Snowfall was on November 21, 2023. There is a poem I would like to share that I wrote in Dec 2019. I just imagined snow.
PhD reflections, Life Catch-up and my take on OpenAI events
Hello again after a week! I am always excited to share my life here, more because when I look back in time, I will have moments to reflect on highs and lows. Okay: Do I like my time during PhD here at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute? A simple and plain response is: Yes, I do! I remember one of the earlier days here around Aug 20 when I was outside to collect my ID card. It was exciting and thrilling to get my new ID card and also to look around the city on my walk using Google Maps.

Talking About Design Customization in Software Development
Feature rich software looks chaotic but does provide high level customization, whereas minimal approach in product design often makes the user do limited tasks and it ignores the product customization according to the user needs. For the sake of minimalism & simplicity, User freedom in sense of customization (personalized product approach) is compromised and vice versa. A few well known chaotic and messy software that provide a wide range of features does also provide customization to its users.
