Social media is changing the way that people get news and react to it. It is giving a voice to those who didn't have one before.

Laura Hollis from the webseries Carmilla.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
To tell the truth. To do what is right. To never give up on a good story.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
Wordpress and Slack. I also use Asana to keep track of ideas.
What's your favorite social network?
Twitter, definitely. It has its flaws but it's a good place to interact with people.
Why did you become a journalist?
I've loved writing for a pretty long time. It's always been a part of my life. So continuing to write is as natural as breathing to me.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
I'd say I'm proud of all of my work. It's hard to pick a favorite.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Don't give up. Be persistent. Keep going. Always do what's right and stand up for what you believe in.
When's the best time to pitch you?
In the morning or the afternoon. That's when I'm at my best.

Water. I like to stay hydrated.

Taking a walk or sitting on the couch, reading or watching TV.
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
That entertainment and pop culture writing doesn't matter. It definitely does. The media affects how we see ourselves and others.
