What's Happening in Puamana?- January 2026 - Hawaii Real Estate Market & Trends
Our Puamana rebuild is progressing in 2026. Good news is our first rebuild permit for building 7 is confirmed by the Maui planning department! Remaining mauka buildings will follow so dust curtains will be going up and construction starting in 2026. Nevertheless, exact timelines to start construction in Puamana are not confirmed – Puamana HOA and individual owners have submitted all plans and studies to the county and we are awaiting the remainder of the permits and approvals from Maui County.
Puamana Post-Fire Update October 2025
The Puamana real estate market has clearly been morphing post-fire. The demographic purchasing in Puamana lately seems to be mainly full-time residents or those who lost their places in the Lahaina fires of August 2023. Since the fires, no destroyed units have changed hands—at least publicly. Five sales of standing units have occurred in Puamana since the fires. Please note: All sales in Puamana post fire have been initiated directly by property owners.
Lahaina Shores Welcomes Full-Time Residents
While the Lahaina Shores area of Front Street was heavily impacted by the 2023 fires, the property itself is one of the first to welcome back residents and guests. The resort has undergone both exterior and interior renovations, including new paint, lobby and hallway updates, re-paving, unit upgrades, AC updates and other improvements that were planned before the wildfires. The resort is undergoing a “soft opening” now with owners welcomed.
For Sale at Puakea Bay Ranch Near Hawi
With only a total of 34 lots, and several of those in single ownership as privacy buffers, the gated oceanfront community of Puakea Bay Ranch in Hawi, North Kohala does not always have a residence for sale. Pidgin English is unique to Hawaii and varies island to island, and even by region. Pidgin not only is based on how you speak but how you act and the shared cultural knowledge. Most of the time, pidgin slang is used informally or among friends and was actually almost banned from classrooms in the ‘80s. What to Do When Life Gives You 99 Bananas
What do you do when life in Hawaii gives you plenny kine bananas? Make dried bananas, freeze them or make banana bread! Broke da mout! First, cut down the bananas…(Bananas are technically an herb, not a tree, in the grass family. My daughter informed me of this recently. Who knew?) The banana herb/plant only gives off one stock, then dies. So cut down the entire plant at the base with a machete and let it fall…be careful of the sap – it stains your clothes dark brown. I found this out the hard way.
