Author Correction: Western Caucasus regional hydroclimate controlled by cold-season temperature variability since the Last Glacial Maximum - Communications Earth & Environment
Correction to: Communications Earth & Environment https://doi.org/10.1038/s43247-023-01151-3, published online 05 February 2024 The original version of this article twice referred to the study sites as being located in the northwest/northwestern Caucasus. In retrospect, the authors acknowledge that the descriptors could be misleading, due to their similarity with the name of the adjacent North Caucasus region.
Western Caucasus regional hydroclimate controlled by cold-season temperature variability since the Last Glacial Maximum - Communications Earth & Environment
Abstract The Caucasus region is key for understanding early human dispersal and evolution in Eurasia, and characterizing the environmental contrast between Last Glacial Maximum and Holocene is crucial for investigating human adaptation strategies to large climatic shifts. However, a paucity of high-resolution paleoclimate records leave this context largely unknown for early human populations in the Caucasus region.
Hydrochemical mixing‐zones trigger dolomite formation in an alkaline lake
Dolomite is globally present in past geological records, but rare in modern environments. The mechanisms favouring its precipitation under ambient conditions remain highly debated. This study investigates sediments, containing high concentrations of early diagenetic calcian dolomite, from alkaline Lake Van (Republic of Türkiye, formally Turkey) dating back to 252 ka BP.
Deciphering local and regional hydroclimate resolves contradicting evidence on the Asian monsoon evolution - Nature Communications
Abstract The winter and summer monsoons in Southeast Asia are important but highly variable sources of rainfall. Current understanding of the winter monsoon is limited by conflicting proxy observations, resulting from the decoupling of regional atmospheric circulation patterns and local rainfall dynamics. These signals are difficult to decipher in paleoclimate reconstructions.
