Button Up! From leather peplums to houndstooth blazers, the absolute smartest jackets of the season Designers just can’t help themselves. Even when they’re hell-bent on pioneering some newfangled concept—nylon body stockings, denim eveningwear, postmodern dirndls—a smart jacket can’t help but worm its way into their fall collections. And thank goodness, because there are few things in life as useful as a well-tailored blazer.

Denise Kieran has set up a petition (above) on Uplift against the Sisters of Charity gaining ‘sole ownership’ of the new National Maternity Hospital. It already has just under 70,000 signatures. The Sisters of Charity is one of 18 residential institutions that is highlighted by the Ryan report 2009 to have been responsible for child abuse. They still owe €3 million to the redress scheme for its survivors.
Go Ahead, Make My Way
Today, members of the Disability Federation of Ireland are placing stickers on objects that block footpaths. The drive is to create awareness of the rarely seen issues that disabled people across Ireland encounter every day.
‘There Was No Cover-Up At All’
From top: Bill Kenneally, Former Superintendant in Waterford Sean Cashman In February Bill Kenneally was jailed for 14 years, after he pleaded guilty to 10 sample counts of indecent assault on 10 boys between October 31, 1984 and December 31, 1987, in Waterford. Incoherence, Mistrust And A Lack Of Synergy
An assessment by members of the European Broadcast Union (EBU) in to RTÉ’s future has been obtained by The Times Ireland Edition under the Freedom of Information Act. RTÉ had refused to release the full report because it claimed that “this would interfere with publishing its five-year strategic plan”.

‘Jacob Rees-Mogg you’re right. You don’t need to visit the border… you need to have lived here.’ Belfast-born actor Stephen Rea explores the real impact of Brexit and the uncertainty of the future of the Irish border in a short film written by Clare Dwyer Hogg.

Well, well, well. The broadband tender debacle about to be finalized. Note the members of the consortium, supposedly all electronic groups. But as forecast months ago when the dropouts started happening, the broadband contract was being teed up as a replacement sop for the planned beneficiary of the Water project. Yes folks, Actavo gets into the communication business. Under a FG government. A tender with just one grouping bidding. http://www.thejournal.ie/national-broadband-plan-5-4242690-Sep2018/

Anne Marie McNally: The Vulnerable Runner
Anne Marie McNally This is slightly off usual course but bear with me…or don’t, there’s a choice here! I recently took up hill running/hiking. I’m still very much a newbie but nothing compares to the feeling of freedom and strength it gives me when I crest a summit and get back down the other side in one piece! The thing is though, in lieu of friends willing to do it with me, it’s mostly a lonely trek; literally.

Civil Service to run north. This is mainly because the public are getting so pee’d of with the tribal pantomime. It’s an interesting one. Civil servants ran the north during most of the troubles and as we are currently questioning the competence of more than one minister in the south, tribal politics aside, maybe it is not such a bad thing?

To all the people that work in the real world.. Imagine you worked for a company in the private sector and imagine being given the huge responsibility for delivering the biggest project, to solve the biggest problem your company has ever faced. (Lets imagine that project was Housing) Imagine after 1 year of full time work on it, you didn’t make any progress and in fact you had made the problem even worse then when you took charge of it.

Senior traffic garda singles out gardaí he believes aren’t issuing enough fines. Setting a crude minimum target on a money making scam is what passes for management these days? Here is an idea. Have a look at the RSA GIS data and identify the accident hot spots rather than in most cases just shooting fish in a barrel. But that would really increase road safety rather than maximising revenue I suppose. http://www.thejournal.ie/garda-fines-4210360-Aug2018/

Sinn Fein is virtue signalling over getting rid of Murphy. For a start would you replace him with and how would that make any difference whatsoever? The planning regulations, zoning issues and private developers go far beyond his remit. Population is increasing, immigration is going up rapidly, all of this results in increased demand for public services like housing. Sinn Fein have spotted a bandwagon and have decided to jump on it.

There’s no referendum now to stop SF putting forward the no confidence motion in Posh Boy Murphy. Will they? Or is it a case of them succumbing to the FF antics of the Grand Old Duke of Cork? I sincerely hope not. If they don’t do it, then they’ve proven correct the anti SF sentiment that they are just the same as FFG. Personally I would like to give a chance to a SF participitation in Government, but if we are going to get a no show in matters like Murphy, then hey may forget it.

“Young girls and women can struggle to pay for monthly sanitary products, this significantly affects their hygiene, health and overall wellbeing. In fact, stark figures released by Plan Ireland earlier this summer reveal that almost 50% of teenage girls in Ireland struggle to afford monthly sanitary products. It’s not unheard of that young women may have no choice but to go without sanitary products to make ends meet.

’58 Pages Mostly Censored With Black Ink’
I’ve just heard Pope Francis’s comments during his papal Mass that those who told mothers it was a mortal sin to search for their children and vice versa were wrong. He said it is the fourth commandment. I looked it up: honour thy father and thy mother. I’m adopted. Might my mother have searched for me if this society, in fear of the Roman Catholic church, had not shamed her into emigration like so many? I made a freedom of information request to Tusla.

@ tommy I like that ‘FU UK’ bit, but the rest of your comment isn’t funny, especially from your standpoint. The Brith government wouldn’t be in it’s current turmoil if what you say is true. It’s within the EU’s interest to make sure that Britain pays the price of Brexit, NOT Ireland. This is not stacked Dominoes. It isn’t even Chess. It’s a game of Draughts and Britain has lost most of her counters. She doesn’t know how to move next. -She’s stuck in a corner. Hope that simplifies it enough for you.

The Irish Times still confused about Brexit. The workers collective of left-wing dung beetles hanging around whatever turds their government spin doctors feed them. I see project fear 2.0 regarding BREXIT is still continuing. I think people have started to get immune to it. The Telegraph’s front page headline about ex-convicts becoming magistrates to improve diversity is like something out of the twilight zone. The idea that more former offenders would reassure minorities is laughable. One has to ask why minorities are making up such large percentages of those convicted?

Yikes, Gilbert O’Sullian is still alive? I went briefly to St. Helier on Jersey back in the early 90s – I was held up at customs, detained under the prevention of terrorism act – an Irish Passport, it seems wasn’t that great. Anyhoos, it turns out that the police on Jersey had made it known that I was a relative of the Cork guy. I’m not – I’ve got wavy hair is all – I kinda took it nonetheless. On her analysis of the burka Ruth Davidson is talking utter rubbish. I am reposting that text of a response tweet from Roger Helmer Telegraph: “Burka no different from wearing a crucifix”. Of course this is just some article or other about a half-baked study: https://www.thelocal.se/20180807/support-for-democracy-weak-among-swedens-youngsters-survey Which brings me to Michael Gove. “We can be flexible on border” it’s utter insanity to allow the European union to use us as a stick to beat the British in these negotiations. On issues surrounding the border the Irish government should negotiate with the British government directly. Border issues aside the UK is by far our biggest trading partner. We share the same language and for better or worse our cultures align.

Perhaps he is “not a good person” but that does not mean he is wrong. It is a zero-sum game, public services like health, housing, education etc. are overstretched as things are. The vast majority of migrants are dependent on resources supplied by the taxpayer. The same resources cannot be used to improve already existing services. Then there is the problem of overcrowding. It’s unpopular to say but many towns, cities and villages have experienced 50 to 75% population growth over the past 2 decades.

Further to the investigation of a decorated former British paratrooper for his actions in Derry in 1972. Citizens Are Not ‘Customers’ Of The State
At your service: Minister for Employment Affairs & Social Protection Regina Doherty and Taoiseach Leo Varadkar The people of Ireland should know that Fine Gael, Fianna Fáil and the Labour Party have removed the status of citizenship from them and replaced it with the inferior status of ‘customer’. The process was initiated in 1997 and has been refined and expanded upon ever since. Ministers and civil servants no longer address citizens as citizens but as customers.
