Social and Academic Balance
This is my sixth semester of college, yet I still find myself asking, “How am I supposed to balance everything?” Between 17 credits of classes, a new job, and clubs, I am still attempting to have a vibrant social life. But it feels nearly impossible to fully devote myself to all these things, and I can forget about even trying to get 8 hours of sleep every night.
My Advice As A Transfer Student
I transferred to the University of Michigan this semester. Transferring at all is tough, let alone mid-year. Still, through the ups and downs, I found a few ways to ease into this new chapter. I hope I can help another transfer student navigate the same experience. The first few days or weeks on campus are going to be lonely; that’s part of the process. Little Things That Instantly Make Your Day Better in College
College life can be exhausting, and the stress of midterms and final exams is often overwhelming. Sometimes, a small moment can completely turn your day around. Here are some little things that are an instant mood-booster for me.
My Weekly Reset Routine

While all of these practices may not be entirely sustainable (I certainly cannot afford to restock my entire bathroom every weekend), I think there is some merit in the weekly reset trend.
Annelise Gray author interview on The Odyssey of Phoebe Quilliam book | Historical fiction books for 9+ years
Thank you so much for the kind words. This is probably my most personal book in that I’ve drawn from experience of recent grief in my own life to speak through my main character, Phoebe. So, I’m very happy to have it out there and to be receiving such lovely feedback from readers who’ve connected with the emotional heart of the story. Dementia is an unwelcome spectre at the feast for so many families, my own included.
The Best New Books for 9-12 Year Olds
Olivetti This playful and bittersweet novel is alternately narrated by Olivetti, a witty typewriter, and Ernest, a 12 year old boy who would prefer to be left alone to read the Oxford English dictionary. One day, Ernest’s mother Beatrice abandons Olivetti at a pawn shop. When Olivetti learns that Beatrice has gone missing afterwards, he needs to help Ernest solve the mystery of Beatrice’s disappearance. Ernest and his family have to confront some difficult issues and put their family back together.
