What was your first job as a journalist?
My first job as a journalist was for The Daily Nebraskan. I started my freshman and have since worked my way up to Assistant Sports Editor.
Who's your favorite fictional journalist?
My favorite fictional journalist is William Miller from the film Almost Famous. As a fellow student journalist, I really connected to him.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
Being a journalist means that the public relies on you to give them news in a factual and accurate manner.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
I use Google Docs to write my articles and upload them using Blox. I communicate with my colleagues with Slack.
What's your favorite social network?
My favorite social network is X as it allows me to share all of my work while also live tweet during sporting events.
Why did you become a journalist?
I became a sports journalist as I was always fascinated by the art of storytelling. I loved writing and knew I wanted a career in sports.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
I served as the Sports Editor for two years at my high school newspaper. We won several awards including a NSAA State Championship.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Some advice I would offer aspiring journalists is to not be afraid to step out of your comfort zone.
