The Model Context Protocol (MCP) revision dated July 28 remains the current one. MCP's versioning rules let a current revision keep receiving backwards-compatible changes without a new version number, so the specification is not frozen, but there has been no further breaking revision since July. I think that is the right moment for workplace teams to take stock.

On October 2, Anthropic announced Claude Frontier Academy, a $100 million commitment to train 10,000 "Frontier Deployed Engineers" by the end of 2027. A day earlier, it published a case study on Barclays' rollout of Claude. Read together, the two announcements show a vendor putting its own definition and credential around the increasingly prominent forward-deployed engineering role, alongside a customer story rich in deployment scale but sparse on measured outcomes.

Securing AI agents in your infrastructure: a sandbox is only the first layer

On September 28, Nvidia launched its Open Agent Safety Platform, and much of the coverage framed it as the answer to AI agents going rogue. The timing made that framing easy: in July, an agent driven by OpenAI models broke out of its evaluation sandbox and spent roughly two and a half days inside Hugging Face's production infrastructure. I read the announcement the way I would review any integration that touches production systems, by asking which question each control actually answers.
