A new beginning: my first hostel experience in the UK
Photo source: Wenzlerdesign, Pixabay Living with flatmates has been one of the most interesting parts of hostel life. We come from different backgrounds, but we’ve built a connection through shared experiences. We have a lot of fun together - late night conversations, watching movies, cooking meals, and laughing. These moments make the hostel feel like a second home. However, living together can also bring small conflicts.
Souvenir Stash: my favourite whitley bay treasure

Every time I glance at it, I’m transported back to that weekend, to the cold sea breeze brushing my face as I walked with friends along the promenade, the sound of waves crashing rhythmically against the rocks, and the laughter echoing from our group as we explored the Spanish City arcade.
Beyond Hollywood: The Indian Series Everyone’s Talking About
Image Source: Kyle Glen, Unsplash Sacred Games is intense, layered, and cinematic. It follows a Mumbai police officer and a mysterious crime lord, jumping between past and present, exploring politics, crime, and personal struggles. What struck me most was how raw and human it felt the tension, the moral dilemmas, the flawed characters everything felt alive, real, and unpredictable. It’s nothing like the stereotypical Indian soaps many people imagine; it’s bold, smart, and global.
Campus Catwalk
This week on campus, between the usual sea of grey hoodies, tote bags and Sambas, I saw a girl who completely stood out. She was walking across the quad like she had her own soundtrack playing. She wore a long black lace skirt with heavy platform boots, a fitted corset-style top, layered silver necklaces, and the most dramatic winged eyeliner I’ve ever seen in real life. Her long black coat flowed behind her, and her dark lipstick somehow made the whole look feel powerful instead of intimidating.
'Zootopia 2' review: still charming
Image source: P.gobin, Wikimedia Commons, public domain Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde once again take center stage, and their partnership feels more developed and mature. Their interactions reflect growth, trust, and the realities of working together in a complex society. The writing gives both characters room to evolve, blending humor with emotional moments that feel natural and earned. Their dynamic remains one of the strongest elements of the film.
Bitesized: Schezwan fried rice
Image source: Hanxiao Xu, Unsplash Schezwan fried rice is not just food, it has become a full time thought occupying way too much space in my mind. I’ll be sitting in class, pretending to absorb some information, but my brain is secretly calculating: should I make it again? Even my stomach has developed preferences as it growls only for that fiery, wok tossed flavour. There’s something magical about it.
Why Northern fashion deserves more credit
Sign up to our mailing list so you never miss any future updates Image source: Boris YUE, Unsplash Northern fashion stands out mainly because of its bold and original designers and style. Unlike the polished styles we often see in London, designers from cities like Manchester and Leeds experiment with unique fabrics, bright colours, and edgy cuts. Their work feels more real and is inspired by street culture, music, and everyday life.
Mandala Art and I: my little world of patterns and colours
Image source: Unsplash | Jayshree Sharma | https://unsplash.com/photos/blue-and-green-round-plate-beside-black-and-white-tube-bottle-_lmNLj5VvDQ Even though my mandalas are for fun and personal enjoyment, I feel connected to this long tradition. Mandala art is not just a modern hobby; it has a long history. Mandalas have been used for thousands of years in India, Tibet, and other parts of Asia as a way to focus the mind during meditation and prayer.
Foody Focus: Mowgli Street Food
Head down to Mowgli for authentic Indian street food! When I moved to Newcastle for my studies, the homesickness really started to hit especially when it came to food. I missed my family, the familiar spices, the street-side flavours, and that comforting taste of proper homemade Indian food. Then one day, I came across Mowgli Street Food, and honestly, it felt like discovering a small piece of India right here in the city.

They went to high school together, where Rachel was the popular cheerleader and Monica was the shy, awkward and insecure about her weight.
Iconic duo spotlight: Otis and Eric

At first, I thought they were just another TV duo, but no they’re way more than that. Otis is shy and a bit awkward, while Eric is confident and totally himself. Together, they make this perfect combo of funny, sweet, and real.
Our favourite celebrity looks from Paris Fashion Week
Image source: The Paris Photographer, Unsplash Though I am by no means a fashion expert, I love to judge celebrity looks. Whether that be on the red carpet at a film premiere or front row at a fashion show, there is often one in particular that stands out to me. My favourite celebrity look from this year’s Paris Fashion Week has to be Clairo’s elevated LBD from the Valentino show.

VERSUS - Nirvana vs. Billie Eilish: a music debate across generations
One came from the loud, rebellious grunge scene of the 1990s. The other rose from a new wave of soft, emotional pop music in the 2020s. They sound completely different, but both connect deeply with young people each in their own way. Nirvana, led by Kurt Cobain, became a worldwide sensation in the early 90s. Their music was raw, loud, and powerful. Songs like 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' and 'Come As You Are' became anthems for teenagers who felt angry, confused, or out of place.
Influence of Reinforcement Learning (RL) on Recommendation Systems. (Step-by-step guide for implementation of RL in E-commerce Recommendation System with Python) | by Anushka Joshi | Nov, 2024 | Medium

Whether it’s suggesting the next movie to watch, a product to purchase, or an article to read, these systems have revolutionized how we interact with technology. But have you ever wondered what powers these seemingly intuitive suggestions?
So Foreign Yet So Familiar: Three Early Novels by Amit Chaudhuri
The 1990s were a vibrant decade in Indian literature. In the wake of the success (and controversy) that surrounded Salman Rushdie’s 1980s output, several of the country’s authors found Western readership with scintillating English-language works that nonetheless regarded the country’s unique concerns of modern identity.
The Mind Of A Female Killer: My Men By Victoria Kielland
The Mind of a Female Killer: My Men by Victoria Kielland My Men, a novel by the Norwegian writer Victoria Kielland, offers both a dark twist on the immigrant novel and a lyrical retelling of a gripping true-crime case.
Indian cinema: A perspective
The charm, flavour, and magic of Indian cinema is unique. It charms a sizable number of spectators around the world in addition to the film-obsessed Indian population. Hindi film songs are still sung by those who do not speak or comprehend the language. A typical Indian film is longer than films from other regions of the world, has its own set of songs and dances, as well as a ginger-touch of love, hate, and retribution.
Personal development
Lifestyle Anushka Joshi @keverything Jan 26, 2023, 15:05 IST Did you know that by concentrating on your own unique personal development plan, you can make your hopes and desires come true? Your potential is infinite, and self-improvement is a strategy to harness all of your skills. Your personal development can be enhanced by setting targets for what you want to accomplish and where you want to go in the short and long terms.
Love is more powerful than hate.
Only two emotions—love and hate—can be accurately and conclusively described and expressed, and they have been that way since the beginning of time. Love is the foundation of our being, and love is what sustains us. Our identity is derived from love. The opposite is true: hatred never stops. It takes time before ignorance and a desire for things that will not be in the best interests of the individual are all that are left.
Poetry for a world on Pause – The Oxford Student
Image description: An illustration of two hands with one holding an ink pen Though much has been said about our abbreviated attention spans during these days, if you find yourself unable to concentrate even on the latest book of essays by the corrosively delightful Samantha Irby or enjoy that ribald, irreverent biography of Princess Margaret that everyone was talking about a few years ago (let alone trudge through the marshy expanse of War and Peace), here are a few short poems to get you...
Celeste’s 'Woman of Faces' is a mirror we didn’t know we needed
Sign up to our mailing list so you never miss any future updates Image credit: Cybertrip on Wikimedia Commons From the first notes of 'On With The Show' there’s a shift. Gone is the polished, poised tone of 'Not Your Muse'. In its place: something messier, more human, more honest. The track doesn’t try to dazzle. It just speaks about grief, identity, and the exhausting effort it takes to simply keep going. The vulnerability in her voice isn’t stylised, it’s lived-in.
The term “witch hunt” has recently been misappropriated by the most privileged and least persecuted person in the world. According to The Nation, Donald Trump has tweeted the phrase some 294 times since becoming President (and this is not counting his retweets). At a time when the word is being so grossly misused, Arthur Miller’s The Crucible is a welcome reminder of the history behind it.
