1 Introduction High-performance insulation materials that exhibit a superior combination of mechanical strength and thermal stability are critically needed for extreme environments such as aerospace applications [1-5]. Historically, silica aerogels have been prime candidates due to their ultralow density, excellent high-temperature resistance, and outstanding thermal insulation properties [6-8].
Interpenetrating Double Network Silicone Hybrid Aerogels with Excellent Mechanical Properties and Thermal Stability for High-Temperature Insulation Silica aerogels, promising for high-performance insulation, face challenges in concurrently optimizing mechanical strength and thermal stability. Herein, robust and thermally stable silicone hybrid aerogels with an interpenetrating double network structure are prepared via a facile secondary sol–gel process.
Robust Silicone Aerogel via Copolymerization of Difunctional Organoalkoxysilane and Polymethylmethoxysiloxane for High-Temperature Thermal Insulation Aerogels are porous materials that show immense potential in thermal insulation, but achieving low-cost preparation of aerogels with both high strength and high thermal stability remains a challenge.
