Aging is a trip. People wear their years in interesting ways. If you find yourself mining your past through the traces of your face you are certainly not alone. Choosing who you hitch your wagon to can be of utmost importance and at the risk of being reductive, be careful who you fuck with. Remorse is always just a stone’s throw away. Fittingly, this collaboration is a long time coming.

Shrines, by Armand Hammer
Retreat to the forest where the moon don’t shine And the sun barely sweeps the floor ELUCID Shrines is the new album from Armand Hammer—ELUCID and billy woods—their first since 2018’s AOTY Paraffin. As ever, this release finds the duo treading fresh ground; swimming through rogue rhythms, rhymes skating over the abyss. Fourteen songs. A hundred glassine envelopes in a shoebox. A thousand stops on the train. Fire is stolen, not given.

Curly Castro and PremRock are ShrapKnel, the formal pairing of two longtime friends and artistic collaborators. Although they have known each other for eight long years, it was a shared affinity for MC-slash-producer ELUCID’s beats that sparked the ShrapKnel project. “I found a discarded desk in my backyard, cleaned it off and positioned it in the only area that catches sun from 10AM-Noon.

Hi-Fi Hip Hop, by Willie Green
In 2018 I released the podcast series "Hi-Fi Hip Hop with Willie Green" through Patreon. The series focused on the specific needs and skills of the hip-hop engineer. What felt like a brief run turned out to be 28 episodes over two seasons. I decided to end it because my studio workload was too heavy to continue with this, but I have since felt like there was too much good info to be left unavailable. This is the entirety of Season 1, nearly 20 hours of techniques, mixing concepts and interviews.
Terror Management, by billy woods
On his new album Terror Management, billy woods weaves past, present and future into a dark tableau as hilarious as it is macabre. This is a place where skeletons spill from closets, lead pours from faucets and the punchline is the whole joke. This is the sound of the police not coming, of garbage trucks in reverse, of glaciers shearing off into a black ocean. But these are also tales of perseverance, compassion and love, however quixotic.
