What was your first job as a journalist?
I've never been a full-time writer but my first writing gig was a local sports column when I was 13.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
Yes - as a kid. Always got my fingers stuck. Ow.

It IS news.

To tell the truth and help people the best you can.

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
Short and sweet.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
I currently use a Chromebook with Chrome OS and the full Google suite.
What's your favorite social network?
Instagram for me.
Who do you wish followed you?
John Mayer (he's also a huge watch fanatic), Julius Erving (childhood hoops legend) and maybe Elvis Costello as I'd be down for a duet.
Why did you become a journalist?
I've always loved to write.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
We didn't have one, but I covered sports for a local paper as a kid.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
I was one of the first people to write a viral piece against Uber. This was back in 2013 when 99% of tech folks thought Uber was untouchable.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Write well and don't be distrac- - hey! A squirrel!
When's the best time to pitch you?
I wake up super early as I do business around the world. 4am New York time is better than 8pm for me.
What's the best pitch you ever got?
I like getting pitched to cover real news on legal startups.
What's the worst pitch you ever got?
I've been asked to write some things over the years for some pretty evil tech businesses.
What's your favorite drink?
An allongée, also known as a cafe lungo, or in English, long espresso. I'm kind of a coffee nut.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
On the tennis courts. I was once a Satellite-level pro and played in college.

What's the most common misperception about your beat?
That there is little new in the world of law. There is a lot.
