This is a special 4th of July in America as the country is marking 250 years of independence. And in Glasgow it is being marked, after the city recently secured growing links with Boston following the friendly invasion of Tartan Army supporters following Scotland in the World Cup.

New charge to stop Isa savers bending bending the rules
New rules are being brought in to stop Isa people getting around a reduction in the amount that can be placed in the savings scheme. Under plans unveiled in the autumn 2025 budget, the annual cash Isa allowance will be reduced to £12,000 from April 2027. The cash Isa allowance for people aged 65 and over will remain at £20,000. The limit for non-cash Isas, covering stocks, shares and innovative finance Isas will remain at £20,000, as part of a bid to encourage an investment culture.
