Photojournalist, Artist and Teacher.
Born June 14, 1992 in Kinshasa, Arsène MPIANA MONKWE is a visual artist and a teacher in the Department of Photography at the Academy of Fine Arts in the same city. Graduated (bac + 5), in 2019, in visual communication, he also holds a certificate in photography obtained after a two-year Masterclass, initiated by the Academy of Fine Arts of Kinshasa and the Network of institutions and European cultural centers active in the DRC (Pole EUNIC RDC), implemented by the Goethe Institut in Kinshasa, sanctioned by a large collective exhibition with John Fleethwood from Phototool as curator. Active on the Congolese artistic scene, Mpiana was able to benefit from other professional meetings such as the masterclass on photography initiated by the collective Solidarité des Artistes pour le Développement Intégral (SADI), in 2019, followed by a major exhibition-restitution at the Academy of Fine Arts of Kinshasa. The same year, the artist exhibited, off, of the 6th Lubumbashi Biennale, as part of the restitutions of the Picha workshop, in 2020 in the 5th edition of Lubumbashi photo and at the 7th Kinshasa International Film Festival. With the SADI collective, still in 2020, he was able to show his talents during the exhibition and restitution concerning the masterclass of artistic video at the Mont des Arts art center in Kinshasa. To his credit, there are two certificates from the Vii academy obtained after a masterclass led by Eric Bouvet and Thomas Freteur. In addition to these aforementioned participations, Arsène was able to be nominated for the Joop swart masterclass 2020 of the world press foundation but also to participate in numerous artistic events taking place in the city of Kinshasa.
