What was your first job as a journalist?
I did work experience as a journalist when I was 15. I got to interview two stand-up comedians for a local paper.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
Many, many years ago.
How is social media changing news?
Giving rise to fake news and misinformation but also allowing people to interact with news stories more.

What does it mean to be a journalist?
To be able to tell an effective story, to entertain and captivate attention, and to inform and educate.
What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?
None come to mind.
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
Carrier pigeon. Or email.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
My phone is the best tool. Google.

Why did you become a journalist?
I love telling stories.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
We didnt have a high school paper but I worked on my college paper. I was the sports editor.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
That's like asking a parent to choose their favorite child! If forced to pick I'd say my first byline in Business Insider.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Start writing. Keep pitching. Get used to rejection.

What's the worst pitch you ever got?
I got sent some adult products and asked to try and write reviews on them...they are still unopened in the box!
