Niftier container ports a must for economic growth
Logistics is a vital component of supply chain management involving the flow of goods from manufacturing to consumption. According to the World Bank, the economic performance of a country is directly linked to logistics efficiency. As nations become competitive, logistics efficiency becomes critical. At 14 percent, India’s current logistics expenditure’s share of the gross domestic product compares unfavourably with the US and EU, which spend 8 percent, and China at 9 percent.
Cage culture for fisheries holds promise
The UN’s FAO estimates indicate that growth in total fish consumption outpaced all other animal proteins, recording year-on-year growth of 2.1% since 2015 (SOFIA 2020–21). Scientific guidance supports the superiority of fish as a source of protein over other animal products. Aquaculture is as old as agriculture and globally accounts for 46% of total fish production. Adoption of scientific breeding technologies, feeding and the use of growth chemicals have led to a dramatic increase in production.

This is a structural problem the nation has to contend with.
