Big game hunter crushed by elephant
I wanted to see if anyone posted about this most recent incident and found your thread from 2017. Well it happened again. Dosio had built an extensive collection of hunting trophies over the years, including animals such as elephants and lions. Last year, another American game hunter was killed by a buffalo he was stalking during a hunting expedition in South Africa. I hunt too but I eat the thing I shoot. Why would you ever shoot an elephant or Lion unless they were over populated?

#1 Things like this couldn`t have happened when I was growing up in the 60s. Not too long after hatching Sunday, the first bald eagle chick in the Pittsburgh area is already devouring the first of more than 200 fish deliveries expected... www.post-gazette.com
Bacteria May Drive Formation of Calcium Kidney Stones
By August West, Staff Writer Bacterial DNA (green) identified within layers of a human calcium-oxalate kidney stone. The discovery of bacterial components in CaOx stones–long thought to be abiotic–has significant clinical implications. From: Schmidt WC, et al. PNAS, Jan 26, 2026 The recent discovery of bacterial biofilms within the core structure of calcium oxalate kidney stones has prompted a major rethinking of the process by which this most common form of nephrolithiasis develops.
R.I.P. Bill Mazeroski
#1 The man who hit the greatest home run in the history of baseball has passed on. Game 7, bottom of the 9th and the score is tied 9-9 and Yogi Berra playing left field could only watch the ball clear the wall. The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the heavily favored NY Yankees to win the 1960 World Series. Understanding Level knob, amp master volume, cab master volume, FRFR Speaker volume
#1 Still new to all things digital and Fractal so another basic thread topic: Can someone explain to me like I'm 5 the relationship between all of these levels (physical Level knob, amp block level, cab level, speaker volume)? I read that unity gain for the unit is the Level knob fully clockwise and this has me questioning my understanding of how these levels should be set / relate to each other. I'm running my AM4 into a Headrush FRFR.
Trump`s pick to lead the Navy
#1 Unsurprisingly, John Phelan has no military experience at all and knows as much about the navy as my German Shepherd whose been deceased of over a year. Look at the trashy looking wife he bought himself. Yuck! She`s scary looking President-elect Donald Trump has said he would nominate John Phelan, a major art collector, to run the U.S. Navy. news.artnet.com #2 He has been sec of navy for almost a year. This article is from 2024. Why are you posting this in current events? His wife is a man.

Can Curcumin Attenuate Type 2 Diabetes? You Beta!
Daily supplementation with 1,500 mg of curcumin extract reduced fasting blood glucose, lowered hemoglobin A1c, and improved pancreatic β-cell function in obese people with type 2 diabetes. Those are the topline findings from a recent, year-long, placebo-controlled trial, involving 229 participants. Curcumin-treated patients also got a small but significant bonus benefit: weight loss.
Be Alert for Drug-Induced Magnesium Depletions
Be on the lookout for drug-induced magnesium depletions. That’s one of the major messages from a comprehensive new paper on the clinical impact of magnesium deficiencies recently published in the New England Journal of Medicine. Many of the most widely prescribed drugs, including diuretics, proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), and certain antibiotics, can cause magnesium wasting.
Are Prescription Probiotics on the Horizon?
Last April, the Food and Drug Administration approved Seres Therapeutics’ Vowst, the nation’s first microbiome-based prescription product. In so doing, the agency quietly opened up an entirely new, potentially vast product category. Indicated for the prevention of recurrent Clostridioides difficile (aka “C diff”) infection in adults, Vowst contains live microbial spores derived from healthy human feces. In essence, it’s a fecal microbiome transplant in capsule form.

Phototherapy Shows Promise in Mitigating Dementia
By August West, Contributing Writer A metanalysis of 12 clinical studies representing a total of 776 patients diagnosed with dementia shows that phototherapy interventions can significantly improve cognitive function as indicated by changes in Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) scores. Phototherapy did not, however, have measurable impact on depression, agitation, or sleep patterns.
Longevity in 8,000 Steps
If you want to help your patients extend their life expectancies, tell them to take a hike! People who walk at least 8,000 steps per day for two or more days each week have significantly lower all-cause cardiovascular mortality rates 10 years later. That’s the conclusion of an in-depth analysis of accelerometer data from 3,101 ethnically diverse US adults who participated in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys (NHANES) in 2005-2006 (Inoue K, et al. JAMA Network. 2023).
Garmin Epix cases
Hello, Wondering if anyone can help. I’m a tree surgeon and have a Garmin Epix 2nd Gen. I was wondering whether anyone has bought or know of any hard cases for the watch to protect it when climbing etc. The plastic ones of Amazon just don’t seem good enough. Thanks, Ben
Teenage Diabetes on the Rise
If current trends continue, the number of American teenagers living with diabetes will increase by at least 12% by the year 2060, a surge driven largely by a staggering 70% surge of Type 2 disease. That’s the troubling message from Thaddäus Tönnies and colleagues at the Institute for Leibniz Center for Diabetes Research at the Heinrich Heine University, Düsseldorf.
Mediterranean Diet Reduces Risk of Gestational Diabetes, Ecclampsia
Women who follow a Mediterranean diet pattern—high in fresh vegetables and fruits, nuts, whole grains, legumes, and fish, but low in saturated fats, red meat, and processed foods—have a markedly lower risk of gestational diabetes, eclampsia, pre-eclampsia, and other adverse outcomes of pregnancy. That’s the key signal from a new study of nearly 8,000 geographically, racially, and ethnically diverse US women.
Nicotinamide Riboside Combo Formula Improves Hepatic Profiles in NAFLD
Daily supplementation with a fixed dose combination of nicotinamide riboside, L-carnitine, L-serine, and N-acetyl cysteine significantly reduced liver fat, quelled oxidative stress, and improved liver enzyme profiles in a cohort of 31 patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Defined as hepatic fat accumulation of 5% or more, unrelated to alcohol consumption or other liver diseases, NAFLD affects roughly one in four adults according to recent estimates.

$2 NLHE Full Ring: ACR "BOMB" Pot hand
#1 September 15th, 2021, 5:20 PM Join Date: Oct 2011 Poker at: ACR Game: Holdem only! Posts: 579 $2 NLHE Full Ring: ACR "BOMB" Pot hand Villain was a 42/16 @ 20 hands. I don't normally play "bomb" pot tables but it was the only FR open. Anyhow, with everyone in the hand pre-flop seems kinda hard to put a range on anyone. Haven't seen this player act out in any way really. Is this hand just an example of not being able to get away from a TPTK hand?
To Thyne Own Self Be True
Allan McDonald, who refused to approve the Challenger launch has died. He was 83. "What we should remember about Al McDonald [is] he would often stress his laws of the seven R's," Maier says. "It was always, always do the right thing for the right reason at the right time with the right people. [And] you will have no regrets for the rest of your life." posted by AugustWest (11 comments total) 1 user marked this as a favorite I'm the most sorry that he had to see that happen a second time.
The Right Stuff
Chuck Yeager, arguably America's best pilot has died at the age of 97 “The fastest man alive,” “the guy with the right stuff,” “Mr. Supersonic,” Charles E. “Chuck” Yeager has been called a lot of things in his 80 [97] years, but none is more fitting than the title, “a true American.” Despite a youth in the poverty-stricken backwoods of West Virginia, Yeager became a fighter ace, a legendary test pilot, a leader of men, and an icon for generations, all while doing what he loved: flying.

Cardio-Chaos: New Statin Guidelines Cause Consternation
LDL ParticleFor decades, the American Heart Association, the American College of Cardiology, and other guardians of conventional wisdom about heart disease have urged physicians to follow rigorous "evidence-based" protocols based on defining treatment targets for LDL cholesterol, and then focusing statin prescriptions to reach these goals.
Obama at the Washington Post
Obama arrived at the Washington Post headquarters today, as covered in priceless pool report by the New York Times Helene Cooper. Is Cooper bitter about the Times still not getting an interview? UPDATE: “There’s no reason to think there were any reporters cheering," said a Washington Post spokesperson, adding that there are "a lot of people who work in the Post building who don’t work in the Post newsroom.” Of course, those cheering could also have been bystanders gathered outside.
MCM Radio: Teresa Walker of the AP Talks Titans Training Camp
Over the past 8 years we've been very up-front about owning any mistakes we make with this show (unless it's August had that extra glass of whiskey before the show... that's just the price of admission sometimes!). In that vein, we clearly dropped the ball by not having Teresa Walker on the show before now. She's covered Tennessee sports (Titans, Grizzlies, Predators, UT, Vandy, et al) for the Associated Press for over 20 years. She's one of the best interviews in all of Nashville sports radio.
MCM Radio: Tennessee Titans Senior Writer Jim Wyatt Edition

Jim covered the Titans beat for the Tennessean throughout the late '90s and 2000s, and last year he made the jump to working for the Tennessee Titans as their Senior Writer/Editor. We cover nearly every era of the Titans in this discussion, including his thoughts on the 2016 offseason.
