How is social media changing news?

It's allowing access to more independent journalists, but also way more fake info propogates as truth.

Geronimo Stilton

What does it mean to be a journalist?

To share and amplify a story with as little bias as possible.

What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

Carrier pigeon (any way you can reach me!)

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

Adobe Suite, iPhone, various DJI mics and products, sometimes a DSLR, sometimes Canva, a a Citi Bike.

What's your favorite social network?

Strava or Yelp.

Who do you wish followed you?

My mother.

Why did you become a journalist?

I love to learn about and share stories.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

I was the video editor-in-chief for the Daily China at Jericho High School.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

The Matzoball Matrix for Time Out New York

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

It's not always fun, but it often is.

When's the best time to pitch you?

Whenever, but later in the day tbh.

What's the best pitch you ever got?

Either covering Kosherpalooza or the Five Boro Bike Tour.

What's the worst pitch you ever got?

Covering the launch of the Tesla Diner.

What's your favorite drink?

Banana milkshakes.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

Cooking or on a bike.

Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?

New York Times Recipes.

What's the most common misperception about your beat?

Sometimes it IS boring!
