Ilorin and the 'Shadow' Pandemic By Bagbansoro Uthman
I first came across the word “Shadow Pandemic” in Olusegun Adeniyi’s Naked Abuse, chronicling the effects of sex for grade on our campuses and how the menace can be tackled in a way that wouldn’t lead to victim blaming and psychological damage. The part two of the book was titled ‘A Vaccine for the Shadow Pandemic’.

(OPINION): Gov Yusuf Abba Of Goats And Wheelbarrows By Bagbansoro Uthman
Last year, the social media was awash with pictures of Governor of Abba Yusuf of Kano State, Northwestern Nigeria, sharing wheelbarrows and shovels to the people of his state. The governor was roundly criticized for leaving his office to receive the supply of wheelbarrows and shovels which were all painted in red in conformity with their red cap political color.
Dapo Abiodun - Fashola And Detty December By Bagbansoro Uthman
I stumbled upon a video on X, formerly known as Twitter, recently and I found the content and the message therein thought provoking and insightful. It was a short clip of the speech delivered by former Governor of Lagos state and immediate past minister of works, Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN on the economic benefits of the month of December and why sub nationals must tap into the benefits of that time of the year.
Sulaiman Aledeh: The Quintessential 50 Of A Golden Man By Bagbansoro Uthman
When we celebrated my boss and mentor Sulaiman Aledeh’s 49th birthday last year, I couldn’t but wonder how fast he has aged but still looks younger, since then I already had it in mind to see much difference he would be in his age at 50. Now he’s fifty and looking more “takeaway” – to borrow the Gen Z’s sociolect. I grew up watching Sulaiman Aledeh on Channels, and then Political Stew on TVC, I have always admired the way he speaks, especially the way he pronounces his name with passion and grit.
One Last Kick For Aisha Binani By Bagbansoro Uthman
Former US First Lady, Michelle Obama was right when she said “no country can ever truly flourish if it stifles the potential of its women and deprives itself of the contributions of half of its citizens.” Before the curtain of campaigns for Governorship and House of Assembly elections draws to an end today, let me quickly make a case for the candidature of Senator Aisha Al-Hassan. Aishatu Dahiru, popularly known as Binani, is a major voice in challenging stereotypes in politics and governance.
The Akunyilis Deserve Justice By Bagbansoro Uthman
I am not the original owner of this title, it was carved by my respected father and role model from my homestead Egba in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Dare Babarinsa. Babarinsa had in the wake of Dr. Chike Akunyili’s cold murder in September last year wrote an article entitled “The Akunyilis deserve justice” demanding that the state investigate and unravel the circumstances surrounding the death of the late Chike Akunyili.
