Would Max Baer be Undisputed Heavyweight Champ today?
Discussion in 'Classic Boxing Forum' started by BrutalForeman, . Baer had the power, the sledgehammer overhand right to put down giants. I don't think Wilder could evade him long. Baer would hunt down Wilder and end things faster than Fury did. How would Baer vs AJ, Baer vs Fury (and other top HWs) play out? I am talking about the focused killer Baer, not Clown Baer.
Wladimir Klitschko is the longest reigning Heavyweight Champ - Not Joe Louis
Joe Louis is still considered by many to be the longest reigning Heavyweight Champion. His Reign was 11 years, eight months and eight days. While Wlads was only nine years, seven months and seven days The one thing everyone is missing is that Joe Louis did not fight for 2 and a half years because of WW2. He was technically still champ so he kept his title for 2 12 years because he was no longer fighting for it. While Wald was still active his entire reign.

Were The Klitschko Brothers That Good...
Boxing News 24 Forum Forums > Boxing > Classic Boxing Forum > Discussion in 'Classic Boxing Forum' started by Fergy, Mar 29, 2022 at 9:37 AM. . And that's why they dominated their era, and no one could really touch them? Or, was it the quality of the other fighters around in that time frame, that helped the Bros enjoy such longevity? Or a mix of the two?? Little of both. The HW division tends to be weak, because there simply aren't that many 6'3+ 220+ pound men who can fight.
Send in your light heavyweight to beat prime George Foreman
Boxing News 24 Forum Forums > Boxing > Classic Boxing Forum > Discussion in 'Classic Boxing Forum' started by Ali Holmes, Mar 18, 2022 at 8:48 PM. Send them in, one by one. Who can prevail against prime Foreman? TBI Active Member Spinks Ezz Both are cagey and slick enough, experienced enough, can beat George to the punch and be gone more times than not. Both could die, but both could pull it off.
Cus D'amato - No Swarmer Beats Foreman?
I don't buy this crap anymore. The Fraizer Foreman destroyed was comparable to the Tyson that Douglas beat... worse as Frazier wasn't even at his best weight in either fight while Mike was close. Frazier was about 10 extra lbs of soft belly in the first fight...when has such an example ever been used to draw such concrete conclusions? Never. No fighter is just immune to a "style" of which there are countless variables and attributes at work. Save this shallow discussion point for the Barber Shop.
Which heavyweight champions were just contenders who got lucky?
Boxing News 24 Forum Forums > Boxing > Classic Boxing Forum > Discussion in 'Classic Boxing Forum' started by cross_trainer, Jan 10, 2022 at 8:39 AM. Just what the title says. Lineal, heavyweight champions whose resumes didn't clearly stand out from their contemporaries, and who owed their crowns to lucky decisions, favoritism, good management, or simply being in the right place at the right time. Who were they? What percentage of the total lineup of heavyweight champions do they make up?
Could any 80s contender have been the GOAT with perfect management and drug-free dedication?
None would be GOAT. I do have to put Pinklon Thomas ahead of Page as a contender (with the aforementioned unrealistically supportive team, etc involved). Thomas had the kind of jab that could have taken even MUCH further and kept him champ much longer imo. He had a no-joke right hand coming behind it, too. Sure, he could have used more movement, but to me no other contender had as much potential, though I'll assert that for single performances, Witherspoon showed that in truckloads against Holmes.
What if jersey Joe was active during 2021
janitor said: ↑ I find it extremely unlikely, that he would turn pro at ta similar weight, in any era were food was abundant, or even one where he could steal it with minimal repercussions! Click to expand... Well, we'll never know. We do know that he's quite a bit smaller than someone like Tony Harrison. Shorter, with a shorter reach. Here is Tony weighing in: This content is protected "Emaciated" as you like to say.

Was Cus D Amato too over protective of his fighters? Floyd Patterson.

Floyd Patterson for example. The problem with this is that the fighters become too co dependent. It is like an overbearing parent, not letting the child to grow up. What If Foreman Had Defended Against Jimmy Young, In 1974??
Boxing News 24 Forum Forums > Boxing > Classic Boxing Forum > Discussion in 'Classic Boxing Forum' started by Fergy, Jul 30, 2021 at 5:09 AM. Let's surmise that George decided to have a so called, other easy defense before Ali. So he takes on Jimmy Young, of that actual time. Youngs probably unheard of mostly here. Can he actually gain a victory over Foreman the unbeaten champ? Ps. It won't take place in Zaire, pick a spot in the US! Anyway 15 Rounds? Young beats him worse then the first time.
