Resist denuding Tannery Gulch
No, no, no! I read with anguish the Trinity Journal's article (Sept. 16), written by reporter Josh Cozine, about the denuding (my word, not his) of the Hayward Flat campground. We need to support the camp staff who are resisting the impending clearing of Tannery Gulch. I learned about this campground thinning from the camp host, Huava Ward, on a recent walk there. Tannery Gulch Campground is my favorite place to walk. I'm not a camper.

The Quilting Life
There’s something so comforting about seeing a simple quilt on a bed. A quilt makes a room feel cozy, elicits fond memories of childhood and family, and its colors make you feel warm and happy. But don’t be fooled—there is absolutely nothing simple about a quilt! The choices of colors, fabrics, and patterns reveal the interests and personalities of the people who make them. Quilt making begins with pattern and fabric selection.

SILVER THREADS: Petawawa seniors' club warms up winter with chili lunch
• • Article content February seems to be the month of ‘getaway to a warmer and sunnier place’ for a lot of our seniors. It helps to split up the winter for us and particularly this year as many of the regular winter activities have been made a little sparse by our own warmer weather. Who knew we wouldn’t be able to skate on the most famous canal in the world due to warm temperatures or cross-country ski as there isn’t enough snow on the trails.

Cutting tuition means college students graduate with less debt
Lower tuition is a boon for working families and students. WE allowed it to creep up on us, paying virtually no attention at all, until tuition at a public college in this state equaled the cost of a luxury automobile. It’s a little shocking when you think of it that way. Over the course of four years, a student at the University of Washington will pay roughly $50,000 in just tuition and fees, and will probably finance at least $20,000 of it with student loans.
