Around the Campfire with D. V. Stone gives a peek behind the curtain of her publishing life.
Hard to believe it’s September. My summer flew past, and not totally in a great way. Of course, there were ups and downs. We don’t camp as much in summer as in spring and fall. I love the crisp nights sitting around a fire. We usually do that when we’re home around the firepit. Since returning home from our winter digs in Northern Florida, we’ve only gone out a few times. Once on grandkid babysitting in Pennsylvania. Unfortunately, it rained the entire week.

Charm City Crab Puff by Pamela Kyel A Cozy Mystery Coming in 2024 From The Wild Rose Press The smell of humidity, trash, and car exhaust greeted me the second I stepped outside. The Baltimore Harbor was a quick drive away, and with it, the Chesapeake Bay, which meant humidity was abundant here. July and August found us perspiring faster than a Pimlico racehorse the second we went outside, so I didn’t go outside.

Around the Fire Tales of My Travels
It's been a minute since I've talked about my travels. Many of you know that my husband, Pete and I bought a 5th Wheel camper a few years ago. Her name is 2HOOTS. Thus named because if you know anything about us we can be a bit crazy. Also, I have a thing for owls and she'd decorated in the Owlish motif. She's 41ft long and 13ft high, and yes I drive her mostly on the highways but occasionally into gas stations. It can be a bit tricky. The length I don't worry overmuch but the height scares me.
Around the Fire celebrates release day with Shirley Goldberg
Shirley! Welcome to the fire. It's been chilly in Florida so snuggle up. While I grab a few cups of warm and cozy why don't you introduce yourself. Hi, I’m Shirley and I write datey books about middle-aged characters starting over. Once upon a time, I dated. A lot. When I got the idea to write about my dates, I’d excuse myself to go to the restroom, pull out my tiny notebook, and take notes.

The three H's are in full swing here in New Jersey, USA. Hazy, Hot, and Humid are the July go-to for weather. Thankfully, after a few dry weeks we've received some rain. After returning from our last camping trip, hubby and I have been in a lull. Things will be winding up soon though. Starting in August, campfires will be on the agenda. But while we wait out the H's, it's the chilly season in South Africa from where my next guest comes to us.
Medieval Monday: "BY THE SAINTS"--FASCINATING FEAST DAYS
One of the many things I enjoy about writing stories set in the Medieval era is finding out about how the people lived. Like most writers of historicals, I can lose myself for hours in research and must force myself to stop. (Even though I’m sure that in one more book, one more online learned site I’ll uncover a glowing gem of fact.) One of the topics that provides endless research opportunity deals with holidays the ‘regular’ people of the Middle Ages observed.

Remember the slogan "Make Love Not War"? How About This One. Love Wins! Around The Fire with N. N. Light & Starfish
What can one person do? There was a story I heard years ago. A man walked along the beach. He spotted another man picking up a starfish and putting it back in the water. The first man looked around. Hundreds of starfish were beached. He shook his head in disbelief when the second man picked up another of the creatures and walked back to the shoreline. The first man called out to the second man, "What are you doing?

Hi, everyone! Can you believe it’s the 3rd week in February? I’ve had some great adventures here in the Sunshine State. I have a new saying, “You can take the Jersey Girl out of the Garden State but you can’t take the garden out of the Jersey Girl. February in Northern Florida is like spring in NJ. I love plants and gardens. Often on our travels we visit Arboritums and Botanical Gardens. Well, here I am, and my fingers began to itch. Off I went to the local thrift store and dollar store.

Hello, All. It's been a chilly week for many of you including those of us below the Mason/Dixson line. For those of you who aren't familiar, the line. Historically, it came to be seen as demarcating the North from the South in the U.S. It was surveyed between 1763 and 1767 by Charles Mason and Jeremiah Dixon in the resolution of a border dispute involving Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Delaware in Colonial America.

Only a few more days until actual winter kicks in on December 21, 2021 sometime during the night. The solstice is when the sun reaches its most southerly point in the sky for the year. In the Northern Hemisphere its the shortest day and longest night. The Southern Hemisphere has its longest day and shortest night. I for one enjoy the daylight. A few years ago I went to Alaska near the end of April.
