Journalists have to compile articles quicker and readers have greater access, but in-depth analysis is sometimes overlooked.

#mom texts - An autocorrect changed a Mother's text to a child from "You're amazing," to "you're adopted."
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
I was a writer for the yearbook and newspaper and I was a broadcaster in college.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Never give up. Be flexible, Check your facts. Check them again. Use innovative angles and be incisive. Always have an angle. Be ethical.
When's the best time to pitch you?

What's the best pitch you ever got?
From a publisher, I was intrigued to cover the traffic nightmare in Malibu, California caused by an influx of literally 500,000 tourists.
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
The Economist.
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
People suffer from the mis-impression that Malibu is only an enclave for the super-famous and super-wealthy. That is untrue.
