How is social media changing news?
It's making news gathering easier. But over exposure and over consumption is not necessarily all that healthy.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
Long hours and sacrificing a social life.
What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?
I don't follow hashtags too closely.
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
By email, always. Please don't call me.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
Substack, Canva, X and Instagram.
What's your favorite social network?
Eugh...Instagram, probably.
Who do you wish followed you?
I'm grateful to anyone who follows me and I don't crave validation from anyone in particular.
Why did you become a journalist?
I thought it might be something I'd be good at it. And I enjoyed reading stories, so I figured I might try telling some.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
No, we didn't have one, sadly.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
It changes from time to time. I enjoy writing longer form articles on Substack.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Consume as much journalism as possible. Those who read, watch and listen to the most; it will come more natural to them.
When's the best time to pitch you?
In the morning.

I have no clue.
What's the worst pitch you ever got?
They get deleted and forgotten about almost instantly so I couldn't possibly recall.
What's your favorite drink?
Water.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
Driving.

The Guardian
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
That it's terribly exciting and glamorous. It isn't.
