I graduated from Central Washington University in 2010 with a degree in Journalism and minor in Political Science. During my time at CWU, I was a reporter and editor for the campus newspaper, The Observer.
Upon graduation, I obtained a freelance contract with The Kirkland Reporter in Kirkland, Washington. My coverage included a death penalty case in which the defendant, from Kirkland, was convicted of four counts of first-degree murder. My stories on the case increased web traffic and allowed the paper to stay competitive with Seattle-based news outlets.
I was hired in 2010 as a staff writer for The Herald Journal, where I currently work. My coverage has earned the paper numerous awards, including the Society of Professional Journalists' coveted "Sunshine Award" for reporting on a university stadium naming rights contract the school initially kept secret.
I continue to write and file stories, take my own photos and video for The Herald Journal.
