The Ultimate Warriors: the top 10 players of all time from this beautifully maddening NRL club
Supporting the Warriors has always been a rollercoaster. A beautiful, frustrating, passionate, and occasionally soul-crushing rollercoaster. But through the ups, downs, heartbreaks, and false dawns, there’s been a core group of players who’ve left it all out on the field—blokes who’ve earned our respect, worn the jersey with pride, and in many cases, carried the team on their backs. Facebook Twitter Whatsapp Reddit Email Share Here’s my definitive top 10 greatest Warriors of all time.
Lent: A Guide for the Perplexed
Lent is observed annually by Christians across the globe and in multiple denominational traditions. It spans the forty-day period before Easter, excluding Sundays. The season begins on Ash Wednesday, a day Christians are reminded they are mortal and instructed to confess sin, repent, take up their cross, and follow Christ. The season concludes on Holy Saturday, the day we remember Jesus’ burial, a day of rest before the day of Resurrection.

Russell-Cooke advises on sale of pioneering developer of autonomous marine vessels
SEA-KIT is a pioneer in the autonomous marine sector. The sale to Fugro follows several years of partnership in the development of low emission uncrewed surface vessels (USVs) for sustainable maritime operations and ocean science. Prior to the development of USVs, the offshore industry has relied on traditional crewed vessels to complete a wide range of essential tasks, from inspecting offshore wind farm installations to surveying sensitive marine habitats.

The NRL dark alley all stars
I remember the one and only time on the footy field that I was genuinely terrified. I was playing rugby union for my high school team and we were lining up against St Bernard’s College. They had a player who I’d only heard about in whispers and stories. His name was Ben Matulino. He was playing the position opposite to myself. All week my friends were ripping me, telling me I was going to get my head smashed in, how he was the biggest hitter they had ever seen and that he loved the rough stuff.
TJ Perenara: Why he will make it in the NRL - and why he won't
TJ Perenara has hit the news recently with his potential move from rugby union to the Sydney Roosters in the NRL. While a fantastic halfback in union, he has somewhat become surplus to requirements for the All Blacks with incumbent Aaron Smith getting the regular start over him and newcomer Folau Fakatava making his way through the ranks. This has left TJ at a crossroads in his career. Currently in Japan, playing for the Red Hurricanes on sabbatical.
I’m not crying, you’re crying: The misery of being a New Zealand Warriors fan
When you are born in New Zealand, you grow up learning two things. 1. The All Blacks are the best team you will ever see play rugby union and must be protected at all costs. 2. The Warriors will always disappoint you, no matter how great they appear to be. This has been the case throughout my whole life and I’m assuming will continue until I am an old man. The Warriors came into the league in 1995, when I was six years old.
Steve Smith should never be allowed to captain Australia again
If Cricket Australia ever decides to make Steve Smith captain of the country’s senior men’s team again, it would be making the most foolish decision in the annals of the game. Smith showed his character in South Africa in 2018, but with the passage of time, public memory does tend to get a bit blurry. Let’s look back on the reasons why he should never be given the honour of being skipper again.
Advance Australia unfair: The most dominant Test team of all time
As a seven-year-old, my family moved across the ditch to Melbourne for work. I was gutted to begin with – it was too hot, there was too many flies and I had to watch a new game with an oval ball that was nothing like my beloved rugby. Then it happened: I went to my first Boxing Day Test, roaring along with 73,000 other fans. I was in love.
Men's tennis is dying - there's one man who must save the game
Roger Federer. Rafael Nadal. Novak Djokovic. These three names epitomise and signify dominance in men’s tennis. Fifty-eight grand slams between them, and a few more should be added to that list when it is all said and done. They have been the pinnacle of men’s tennis since Federer won his first Wimbledon title in 2003. A number of challengers have tried to step into their kingdom to become the fourth horseman in the game but none have had the staying power.
My NRL first XV to take on union in a crossover game
Long ago – in 2020 – a mooted game between the All Blacks and the Kangaroos was on the table with talks apparently becoming very serious. While a league and union crossover game should never happen, these are the players who should be in the starting 15 and on the bench if it ever did eventuate (and for some reason they decided to play proper rugby union).
NRL Round 1 power rankings
Isn’t it great to have the league back in our lives? What a first weekend to kick off the season. Plenty of big teams lived up to their pre-season hype, while others will be going back to the drawing board after a lacklustre start to the season. Here are my power rankings after Round 1 in the NRL. Last week’s rankings are listed in brackets. Sydney Roosters: 1 (1) What a performance from this squad – the stars came out to play on Saturday night.
All Black everything: My favourite All Blacks of the professional era
Picking a top ten list of the greatest All Blacks ever is like choosing your favourite child: hard to do, but you probably could if you really had to. This list doesn’t cover the ‘greatest’ All Blacks, but simply who my favourite All Blacks of all time are and why. Your list will be completely different, most likely, but hey, what’s life without good quality debate? Share your thoughts with me in the comments below.
NRL pre-season power rankings: Top eight
Following Part 1 about the bottom eight teams, my pre-season power rankings move on to the top eight sides. 1. Roosters When you look through their list of star power, it’s hard to believe that the Roosters won’t challenge for top spot this year. Rattle off the names: James Tedesco, Angus Crichton, Boyd Cordner, Luke Keary, Victor Radley and Jake Friend. The big test for them will be in the halves and who they pair with Keary.
The top ten fantasy NRL players for 2021
1. Payne Haas The leading contender to be crowned the fantasy king for 2021, Payne Haas is looking at another monster season for a struggling squad. The load is firmly placed on his shoulders to carry this team out of mediocrity. A new coach will aim to inspire the best from the big man, who comes into this year as a guaranteed point machine. He has everything you want out of a number one player, averaging a whopping 72.2 points per week in 2020. He’s the perfect high floor and high ceiling player.

Roger Federer: Tennis’ best story ever
3236 Reads Has anyone ever been as valuable to their game as Roger Federer is to tennis? Some have come close. Others may be his equal. But more valuable? I doubt it. His own story is a remarkable one. He is, after all, the most successful male tennis player of all time. But perhaps even more significant is his role in the game’s story. The story of tennis is not short of characters. Throughout time, like many sports, it’s had it all. But it’s latest chapter just might be its most important.
