20 U.S. Senators Raise Concerns to Biden About Saudi Demands, Urge Two-state Solution's Preservation
Twenty U.S. senators on Wednesday urged U.S. President Joe Biden to preserve the option of a two-state solution in any potential Israel-Saudi Arabia normalization agreement, further detailing their concerns with Riyadh's demands from the U.S. The letter - led by Sens.
GIF INSIDE STORY: UK industries squeezed by surging gas prices, tight energy supply
By Kaja Sillett, Jake Stones, Richard Ewing, Ruth Liao and Ben Samuel LONDON (ICIS)--Surging European gas prices continue to struggle to attract LNG from resolute Asian buyers, coal-to-gas power switching has been near exhausted and traditional pipeline suppliers are pushing every molecule they can. With conventional flexibility sources pushed to their limit the market is having to turn to less conventional forms of demand side response to prevent a worst-case scenario in peak winter.
Record high prices trigger European gas demand destruction
Downstream European gas markets suffered further financial pain with new record spot gas highs on Monday, 20 September and with a focus on reductions to fertilizer producer. A range of European fertilizer production has been taken offline amid record high Dutch TTF and British NBP gas prices, although the British government stepped in with short-term financial support which led to the resumption of one of CF Industries’ two UK fertiizer plants.
James Hannaham: A Safe Distance
Image by Ian Douglas. Judging by the success of California, Find Me, and Station Eleven, the future looks bright for dystopian fiction. Novels in which characters struggle to survive in some barely recognizable American landscape, absent of government and replete with danger, may be as much a reflection of our times as they are an escape from it.
Ushering in the ‘Golden Age’ of research & insights
We are standing on the edge of a new ‘Golden Age’ for research and insights. The increasing volume of data, now the world’s most valuable resource, is undoubtedly a catalyst in this situation – but this new ‘Golden Age’ isn’t going to come in of its own volition. We first need to accept the changes in the landscape around us. Not least how workforces are hurriedly moving online due to the current Covid-19 crisis and the social distancing measures employed to combat its spread.
In a time of crisis it’s vital all data is ‘good’
Working from home and worried about the future of your business? You are not alone in a very challenging economic environment. Nevertheless, forward-thinking businesses have an opportunity to use the time and space outside their busy office wisely. They have the chance to think about how they can improve their business practices so they can come back stronger and ensure they hit the ground running once the crisis passes.
Five marketing measurement mistakes retailers are making today
Online shopping has changed the face of retail and redefined consumer expectations. As Bain & Company partner Darrell K. Rigby boldly predicted in 2011, “Retailers relying on earlier formats [will] either adapt or die out as the new ones pull volume from their stores.” Fast-forward eight years and the assertion holds true, but progress in business-critical areas remains slow. While Rigby’s predictions of increasingly digitalised retail have become reality, many brands are lagging behind.
Interactive video: A powerful engagement tool for every step of the digital customer journey
As colder and darker weather is upon us—the perfect time for cosying up on the sofa to watch a movie—I’m reminded of a very memorable experience that took place in my living room not too long ago. I was sitting down with my laptop to watch a favourite show. It was dark outside and I was alone at home. The adverts came on…all normal so far, but then a gripping ad for an upcoming movie came on.
Breaking news: Austrian, Italian gas prices spike after grid explosion
The Austrian VTP Day-ahead contract jumped to more than €33/MWh on Tuesday morning, according to trades submitted to ICIS, following an explosion on the Baumgarten gas network. Network operator Gas Connect Austria announced the incident on Tuesday morning, leading to bullishness in gas markets across Europe.
You've changed…The opportunities and pitfalls of the new customer journey
As we find ourselves in a changing retail landscape, the customer journey is no longer linear. Customers don’t just walk into a shop and buy anymore; instead, they are greeted by a mass of touchpoints that engage and influence purchasing decisions. Why is predictive modelling more powerful than real-time responses?
The success of any omnichannel strategy can be determined by the quality of the data behind it. Without data, a brand’s ability to create a campaign that transcends multiple touchpoints with relevancy and accuracy will be severely compromised. Data after all is the fuel that powers modern day marketing. That said, the way brands build and shape their campaigns is equally important, but commonly forgotten in the quest for instantaneous responses.
Summer set to bring major shift in gas flow profiles
On 1 April the six-month gas summer period will commence, which normally brings a change in the export profiles of the major producing countries. During the summer season, maintenance work cuts the capabilities of key pieces of gas infrastructure, with some pipelines and facilities going offline completely. It is likely that demand for pipeline gas could be restricted this year by two factors; the relative fullness of storage sites and the number of LNG vessels arriving.
Full British storage points to bearish front winter
Natural gas demand was so limited in Britain during the final quarter of 2015 that storage sites were in net injection mode. Data from system operator National Grid shows that in the last three months of the year 283 million cubic metres (mcm) was added to sites. During the quarter demand averaged 245mcm/day, which is below normal for the time of year but actually 5mcm/day higher than the equivalent period in 2014, also a very low consumption winter.

Marketers: are you using your data to make decisions?
If not, then you should be. Data now plays a crucial role in business decision-making and it’s never been more important to consider how your company manages, analyses and uses it. The mere fact that there is data now available on pretty much every aspect of our lives is not enough. Marketers need to consider the right way to approach data and how to create the right models that will produce good quality data to provide meaningful customer and business insight.
