From UPA To USAU | Ultiworld
While the Ultimate Players Association/USA Ultimate has never been an organization that was widely acclaimed for its communication and transparency by its membership, by my estimation, 2007 was a high water mark in the organization’s favorability. The UPA, as it was called at the time, had completed defining its first major strategic plan.
North Carolina Basketball returns to the final four in dramatic fashion | isportsweb
When North Carolina basketball squared off against Kentucky on Dec. 17 in Las Vegas, many dubbed that game as “the game of the year”. The Wildcats won that one in a 103-100 thriller that featured a 47-point outing from Malik Monk and a cool 34 from Justin Jackson. Following that game, college basketball analysts across the country said that they wouldn’t be surprised if the two teams met again deep into the month of March.
North Carolina Basketball: Just survive and advance | isportsweb
After racing out to a 30-13 lead, No. 1 seed North Carolina basketball got all it could handle from No. 8 seed Arkansas on Sunday night. The Razorbacks, led by Daryl Macon’s 19 points, went on a massive run to end the first half and rode that momentum well into the second half—Arkansas opened up a 65-60 lead with 3:30 remaining in the game. The Tar Heels were on the ropes—Joel Berry II and Justin Jackson couldn’t buy a bucket and the Tar Heels kept turning the ball over.
North Carolina Basketball earns 1-seed in South Region | isportsweb
Despite losing to Duke in the semifinals of the ACC tournament, North Carolina basketball earned a 1-seed in the south region of the NCAA tournament. 1-seeds have been kind to North Carolina under Roy Williams—they’ve reached at least the elite eight all six times they’ve received one, made four final fours, and have won two national titles. The Tar Heels will play 16-seed Texas Southern (winner of the SWAC conference) on Friday afternoon in Greenville.
North Carolina Basketball pounds Virginia | isportsweb
No. 10 North Carolina dominated No. 14 Virginia 65-41 in the Smith Center on Saturday night. The Tar Heels improved to 23-5 overall and remain atop the ACC standings at 10-3. UVA fell to 18-8 on the season and now sits sixth in the ACC standings at 8-6. Statistically, this was UNC’s best defensive game of the season. Not only did the Tar Heels hold Virginia to 41 points—they held them to just 27.8 percent shooting, which included a dismal 2 for 20 from behind the three-point line.
North Carolina Basketball: Previewing Duke | isportsweb
It’s finally here. On Thursday night, No. 8 North Carolina Basketball travels to Durham to take on No. 18 Duke in what is widely acclaimed as the best rivalry in college sports (sorry, Michigan and Ohio State). North Carolina enters the game atop the ACC standings at 9-2, while Duke is lurking two and a half games behind at 6-4. The Blue Devils are coming off a 72-64 win over Pitt—more significantly, it was Coach K’s first game back after being out for a month with back surgery.
North Carolina Basketball needs to find consistent defense | isportsweb
No. 9 North Carolina Basketball has had an impressive season so far with an 18-3 record (6-1 ACC). The Tar Heels have accumulated several impressive wins, including a 15-point win against No. 15 Wisconsin, a 13-point win against No. 6 Florida State, and a blowout 51-point win over rival NC State. North Carolina has been impressive as ever on offense—Led by Justin Jackson and Joel Berry II, the Tar Heels are averaging nearly 90 points per game (4th nationally).
North Carolina basketball downs Syracuse basketball | isportsweb
North Carolina basketball defeated the Syracuse Orange by a score of 85-68 in the Dean E. Smith Center last night. Justin Jackson (19 points, 10 rebounds) and Kennedy Meeks (15 points, 12 rebounds) each finished with double-doubles. Isaiah Hicks led the Tar Heels with 20 points while pulling down 8 rebounds. Syracuse was led by Tyler Lydon, who poured in 26 points and made 11 of his 14 shots from the field. UNC dominated the Orange on the glass, as they out-rebounded Syracuse 44-24.
North Carolina Basketball: Which team is the real Carolina? | isportsweb
Through three games in ACC play, North Carolina Basketball has a 2-1 record. While struggling mightily in the loss to Georgia Tech and the OT win against Clemson, the Tar Heels looked like world-beaters in a 51-point win against NC State. The Tar Heels’ inconsistent play has many wondering which team is the one that will show up come March. The biggest wild card with this UNC team seems to be turnovers.

North Carolina basketball suffers an embarrassing loss to Georgia Tech | isportsweb
In case you’re still in disbelief or hoping Saturday’s result was a nightmare, it wasn’t—North Carolina Basketball took a stunning defeat 75-63 to lowly Georgia Tech on Saturday. Freshman Josh Okogie led the Yellow Jackets with 26 points, and was a big reason why his team led for the last 12 minutes of the game. Justin Jackson led the Heels with 16 points on an inefficient 6-of-17 shooting. This was by far the Heels’ worst performance of the season.
North Carolina Basketball is gearing up for ACC play | isportsweb
13 games into the 2016-17 season, No. 9 North Carolina Basketball sits at 11-2. The Tar Heels last two games could not have been more different. In a thriller that featured 203 total points scored, the Tar Heels lost to Kentucky basketball 103-100. In that game, four players set career highs in points. For Kentucky, Freshman Malik Monk lit up the Heels for 47 and fellow Freshman De’Aaron Fox scored 24 and dished out 10 assists.
North Carolina Basketball: What to watch for against Kentucky Basketball | isportsweb
No. 7 North Carolina Basketball takes on No. 6 Kentucky in Las Vegas this afternoon in what should be a fast paced thriller. When watching the game, keep an eye out for the following: Both North Carolina and Kentucky love to push the pace and maximize the amount of possessions. Kentucky is averaging 94.4 points per game, while the Heels are averaging 88.8 points per game. Neither team will try to slow the game down, meaning that it will be likely be played at a blistering pace.

North Carolina Basketball needs to get healthy | isportsweb
As we enter the month of December, No. 7 North Carolina basketball is the most injured it’s been all season. Heading into the year, the Heels thought they would have a starting line up of Joel Berry II, Theo Pinson, Justin Jackson, Isaiah Hicks, and Kennedy Meeks. Against Tennessee, only three of those players will suit up. Theo Pinson has yet to play this season after he broke the fifth metatarsal in his right foot on Oct. 21.
Kenny Williams is surging as a sophomore for North Carolina Basketball | isportsweb
A year ago as a freshman for North Carolina Basketball, Kenny Williams scored just 23 points and didn’t make a 3-pointer until the ACC Tournament. That was the only 3-pointer Williams made last season, as he finished 1 for 13 from beyond the arc. Known as a knock down shooter in high school, Williams was frustrated in his dismal shooting numbers. Head Coach Roy Williams said that Williams worked hard this summer and it looks like it’s paying off.
