TL;DR I dislike Automapper as a tool to auto-map objects from one to another. So I performed some benchmark tests around performance and memory usage between AutoMapper and manually mapping an object to a DTO (Data Transfer Object with fewer properties, normally used for API / UI usage). Results found that the manual mapping technique was substantially faster, and more performant than that of AutoMapper.
