Prescription Drug Pricing Proposal Disrupts Investment for Minimum Benefit in Cost
Blog Post A recent proposal that would allow the US federal government to set drug prices has been critiqued for being too small to meaningfully constrain costs. While this price control proposal would have a more limited impact when compared to some of the other recent price control proposals, it will have a broad and meaningful influence on investment decisions for all drugs in development. This type of policy achieves maximum distortion in future investment for minimal healthcare savings.

SIOUX FALLS — In September 2020, a farmer in Divide County, North Dakota, suffered a heart attack during harvesting. While he was in critical condition in a local hospital, nearly 60 of his neighboring farmers came to his aid — halting their own harvest so that his crops could be gathered in time. This is the Dakotas that I know. I am a transplant here in South Dakota.
Health equity in the times of COVID-19 vaccination
Blog Post December 14, 2020 The United States entered a new phase of the COVID-19 pandemic, with FDA approval imminent for one — then eventually more — COVID-19 vaccines. Ultimately, the supply of vaccines will outpace demand as production ramps up. However, in the short term, there is a complex issue of scarce resource allocation.
A coronavirus vaccine would solve a lot of problems — if we use it | American Enterprise Institute - AEI
Blog Post AEIdeas May 14, 2020 Biopharmaceutical companies are racing to develop a coronavirus vaccine. Blueprints for re-opening the US economy hinge on testing, treatment, and vaccination. Moreover, the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) landscape has changed with an explosive growth in specialized PICUs, such as those targeted to cardiovascular or neurocritical care.
Letter: Establish ‘common sense’ gun laws
This is not about taking guns away from law-abiding citizens. This is not about the Second Amendment. This is about common sense. This is about our kids. As a pediatric intensive care physician having cared for kids after gun violence, I can tell you firsthand the absolute viciousness of a bullet, especially one from an assault rifle, has on a child’s body. As a society, we must address this issue.
