2019 - Digital Storytelling, Second Place

This was a collaborative work between three reporters and myself for an ongoing series about homelessness titled "Seeking Shelter." Judges said: This is an excellent example of solutions and explanatory journalism told on a digital platform. The stories in this package, which explore in detail how Fort Collins hopes to develop a centralized homeless services campus, flow neatly from one to the next, and a chapter guide at the top allows the reader to jump to specific parts of the series. Infographics spread throughout the copy inform, but do not overwhelm the reader. We also hear about the topic via first-hand accounts from law enforcement and others, via video. In all, this package presents the topic in such a clear and concise way that Fort Collins readers can use as an essential guide to understanding the development of a homeless center in their city.
