Autumn
Trees golden as pure sunlight Trees ablaze in autumns colors, bright Trees turning with reds and browns They accept the change I am trying something new. I began working through understanding what's really important to me with the help of The Good Life Project. As a first challenge I was encouraged to share some art I hadn't ever shared before and this is what I want to share with you. I don't know where this will go but there may be more.
New Gift from Conways’ Bedford Falls Foundation Expands Support for Nursing Students
Celebrated philanthropist William E. "Bill" Conway Jr. has a passion for helping student veterans rapidly enter the civilian workforce as nurses after their military service. His latest gift to the George Washington University School of Nursing (GW Nursing) extends the William and Joanne Conway Transitioning Warriors Nursing Scholarship Initiative, first established with a $2.5 million gift from Conway and his late wife, Joanne, in 2020.
Opinion: The mayor says he 'has the power' — but does he have the power to listen?
The unprecedented mass resignation by the Chicago Board of Education and the mayor’s news conference to follow crystalized a crisis of governing and leadership in our city. Despite Mayor Brandon Johnson claiming he has led “a collaborative operation” since taking office, it has been anything but, with this stunning development only the latest in an unfortunate trend. It’s a course we can correct if we understand how we got here and work together to move forward more productively.
Modern Vehicles Present Unique Threats and Vulnerabilities to the Military
The hackers watched the ship’s captain through dozens of vehicle cameras. They used the zero-day exploit in her car’s infotainment system to access applications on her personal phone, viewing her calendar and emails. The same exploit allowed them to access her government-issued cell phone as well and read through emails with sensitive unclassified information.
The Coast Guard Needs Stronger Policy to Prevent Maritime Cyber-Attacks
In August 2021, the Coast Guard released an updated version of its Cyber Strategic Outlook.1 This document, along with Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS’s) newly released National Maritime Cybersecurity Plan, marks a shift from previous guidance.2 Most notably, the new Cyber Strategic Outlook places the onus squarely on the shoulders of shoreside commanders in the Coast Guard to “prevent and respond” to cyber incidents within the Marine Transportation System (MTS).
Improve Cybersecurity for Information System Defense
In 2015, Chinese hackers scooped up millions of personnel files and security clearance records from Office of Personnel Management (OPM) databases. OPM’s lax security practices, specifically its failure to implement industry-standard security measures such as two-factor authentication, allowed Chinese security services hackers easy access to a treasure trove of sensitive data. This is not an isolated incident. Over the past decade, headlines announcing major data leaks have become common.
Letter: Legislative session was not a success
I got mad when reading the article about Boomer Wright’s first session in Salem. All the Democrats did this session is pass a bunch of do-nothing, feel-good pet projects. spending the taxpayers’ money without thoughts for saving for a rainy day (which is come). Passing laws to make is easier for criminals to not pay for their crimes seems to be the emocratic way. Nothing for the plain working man and woman just more goofy laws for the Portland area.
To Master the Cyber Threat, Naval Intelligence Should Remember Its Undersea Domain Roots
Over the past two decades, U.S. global naval superiority has been progressively eroded by Russian and Chinese technological advancements in speed, range, stealth, and sheer tonnage.

Review | NetGalley
Review by Diane H, Reviewer Last updated on 28 Oct 2019 My Recommendation You don’t have to be a punk to enjoy The Hard Times—but it helps. Why is it funny that The Ramones forced their studio’s janitor to change his name to Gary Ramone? Because none of The Ramones were related in real life and all changed their name to enter the band. Why did a punk survive the Kool-Aid at Jonestown? Practice, practice, practice (of ingesting all manner of substances at punk rock concerts).
