Bill McConnell has led The Deal 's coverage of the nation's capital since becoming Washington bureau chief in 2005. His reporting has covered a range of issues critical to the deal community -- antitrust, financial reform, corporate accounting, tax policy, the impact of national security concerns on dealmaking and the effect consolidation has had on American society. Prior to joining The Deal, Bill was the Washington correspondent for Broadcasting & Cable, where he spent seven years reporting on the debate over media ownership, the FCC's crackdown on broadcast indecency and the rollout of digital television. He began his journalism career at the Daily Times in Maryville, Tenn.
