Developing city-regional governance capacity: the case of skill formation in the Gothenburg city-region
ABSTRACT In recent decades, city-regions have received growing attention as spaces for governance and policymaking. As an expression of the rescaling of the state, city-regional governance structures are often discussed as bottom-up alternatives to top-down institutional reforms.

Dry and lubricated sliding friction for rubber on concrete: role of surface energies
Dry and lubricated sliding friction for rubber on concrete: role of surface energies We study the influence of lubricant fluids (water-glycerol mixtures) on rubber sliding friction for two different rubber tread compounds on a concrete surface. We find that the sliding friction below a critical velocity $v_{\rm c}$ is similar to for the dry contact, but for $v>v_{\rm c}$ the friction drops fast with increasing sliding speed.
Characterisation of the Contact between Cross-Country Skis and Snow: A Micro-Scale Study Considering the Ski-Base Texture

Multiscale physics of rubber-ice friction
Ice friction plays an important role in many engineering applications, e.g., tires on icy roads, ice breaker ship motion, or winter sports equipment. Although numerous experiments have already been performed to understand the effect of various conditions on ice friction, to reveal the fundamental frictional mechanisms is still a challenging task. This study uses in situ white light interferometry to analyze ice surface topography during linear friction testing with a rubber slider.
Plain C++ Code 10 times faster than inline assembler. Why?
These two code snippets do the same thing: Adding two float arrays together and storing the result back into them.
Philosophy behind Undefined Behavior
First, I'll note that although I only mention "C" here, the same really applies about equally to C++ as well. The comment mentioning Godel was partly (but only partly) on point. When you get down to it, undefined behavior in the C standards is largely just pointing out the boundary between what the standard attempts to define, and what it doesn't.
