Michael Spinks vs Dimitri Bivol
Discussion in 'Classic Boxing Forum' started by Joeywill, . Spinks, Bivol is a small 175 and I don't think he'd be able to counter Spinks' speed and ferocity. We'll see how Bivol does now he's stepping up his level of opposition, but takes a huge leap of faith to see anything other than a Spinks win right now.
Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn II set for November 15
Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by Flo_Raiden, . This content is protected 1st fight was awesome and was on par with what their dad's produced I'm definitely looking forward to the rematch. People will rubbish this fight and yeah in grand scheme of things it don't mean a whole lot at world level. But it's a fun fight with a deep family rivalry so I'm all for it not everything has to be two top P4P fighters fighting eachother. Nobody cares about this fight. The first fight was brilliant.
How good was Len Wickwar?
Melankomas said: ↑ Len Wickwar had the most fights in boxing history, with a record of 340-87-43 with 94 KOs. But how good was he? Was he ever ranked highly or was a legitimate contender? Click to expand... Very Good, and a Credit to TRUE Boxing, in that he was a Contender, a Fringe Contender, a Journeyman and at the Top or Among them for Years... 'IF' only we could get champions & contenders today with such 'a Willing' approach to fighting, Boxing would still be "in the Main".
Tank Davis vs Aaron Pryor

Discussion in 'Classic Boxing Forum' started by Shay Sonya, . "Sugar Ray Robinson, the legendary boxer, famously dreamed about his fight with Jimmy Doyle. Prior to their match in 1947, Robinson had a vivid dream that he would kill Doyle in the ring. This dream was so disturbing that Robinson tried to pull out of the fight, but was persuaded to go ahead with the match after a minister reassured him.

The Silver Dollar Method
Discussion in 'Classic Boxing Forum' started by BoB Box, . Unconventional Methods in the Corner. I think it was a Greg Page fight but I'm not completely sure. Anyway around the mid rounds one the commentators talked about how back in the day when there was no enswell they would use a Silver Dollar Coin instead. Was O'Shaquie Foster robbed last night against Robson Conceicao?
BoB Box said: ↑ Watching the fights last night I thought Foster won without question. As much as I like Robson I just don't feel he did enough to win. Anyway I feel these judges need to be penalized and even terminated for incompetency. Here are the numbers as I understand. 1. Foster total thrown 435 - Conceicao total thrown 698 2. Foster landed 109 - Conceicao landed 76 3. Foster had a 25% PCT - Conceicao had an 11% PCT. 4.
Greatest feat in boxing history?
Discussion in 'Classic Boxing Forum' started by Thirdtonunn24, . Is it Greb’s 45-0 record in 1919? Maybe Armstrong holding three belts simultaneously? Pacquiao’s 8 belts? Joe Louis’s unbeaten title defenses? To me it’s Armstrong simultaneously holding three of the existing eight weight division belts and also fighting to a draw for a version of the middleweight title. Unfathomable. Mike Tyson unifying the belts in the Heavy weight division. Your name or email address: Do you already have an account?
Tough Divisions
fbear said: ↑ I watched a lot of boxing all through the 70s and 80s, and looking back, I have to say the toughest division was the featherweight division that Salvador Sanchez mowed down. When you look at the records of the guys he beat, it is quite impressive. Starting with his gaining of the WBC feather weight title....

Is Tim Bradley's Word as a Man only worth an Expired Coupon?

Canelo v Munguía
Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by vilderbeast, . Canelo doesn't want to face another mexican in the ring... It's why he doesn't want to face Benavidez. Yet here he is against a mexican opponent. Canelo is **** for boxing. Thoughts? I have a feeling Munguia is going to lure Canelo into an all out slugfest and pull off the upset. Arnold Barboza Jr to replace Ryan Garcia vs Devin Haney
During Haney and Garcia's last presser in L.A ODLH brought up Barboza to speak. Barboza said he is grateful and ready to be the fill in fighter if Haney or Garcia pull out of the fight. Barboza said while Haney and Garcia are playing games on social media he is grinding in the gym and ready to fight either one. At this point I don't think Garcia is trolling and might be crying out for help. If Barboza steps in to fight Haney how would this play out and would this be a better fight? Thoughts?

Prison Boxing Programs
If Liston and Lyle Fought in Prison when neither one knew how to box who would have won? Charles "Sonny" Liston was sentenced to Missouri Prison and boxed. Liston served 2 years for -Robbery-in prison after being released to the underworld. If Ron Lyle wasn't sentenced to Colorado State Penitentiary would he have become a boxer. Lyle served time for second degree murder. Lyle was part of their boxing program and without that foundation there would have never been. Hopkins is on the same level.
Jo Jo had too much luv luv
Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by BoB Box, . Looks like Jo Jo Diaz was too busy playing with his son. If you noticed the difference between the two fighters when their hands were being wrapped, Jesus Perez Was dialed in and Jo Jo was talking to his child. Diaz is an idiot. He slept on Perez and lost. He isn't world class either. A lot of fouls. Thoughts? Log in with Facebook Log in with Twitter Your name or email address: Do you already have an account? No, create an account now.

Sad Tales of the Death of Kings
As Shakespeare once wrote “For God’s sake, let us sit upon the ground and tell sad tales of the death of kings”. Mine would have to be Rocky Marciano vs Joe Louis. When I heard Rocky cried in the locker room after he beat Louis and showed no joy when he was declared the winner in the ring by the announcer says a lot of the admiration Rocky had for Louis. He said to Louis, “I’m sorry Joe”. Joe responded “What’s the use of crying? The better man won.

Create the Ultimate Fight Card!
Imagine that one night as your chillin out and brain storming a worm hole suddenly materializes inside your crib. The power of the worm hole is it can transfer to the present any boxing match in history just moments before the actual boxing match took place so in this altered reality these boxing matches have not happened yet. You have the responsibility to create the ultimate fight card! Question #1 What are the 4 boxing matches you would transfer to the present for your main card?
Abel Mendoza headed to Russia to fight Vsevolod Shumkov!
Here are a handful of excerpts from an article on Able Mendoza I found to be interesting. Mendoza's current record is 38-0 with 28 knockouts. "You know I don't mind if I win or lose. The fact that I made it this far, I'm grateful that I'm here and that I'm able to go to and fight in other countries is a blessing," Mendoza said. Mendoza has fought several times in Mexico, he's gone to Colombia, South Korea, and just recently was in Jamaica, Mendoza credits his passion for boxing to his father.

Mayweather, the best he could beat and the worst he could lose to vs greats
Guerra said: ↑ I think floyd could beat hagler on a good night over 12 rounds. Obviously the first thought is that Hagler is too big and strong and ko's him. But is he? Hagler was like 5'8,5 and struggled with Durans skills. He was a small middleweight by todays standards with the weigh ins being same day back then. If he fought now he would be a welter or light middle perhaps that rehydrated on fight night. I still favour my favourite fighter mmh though but I could see a Floyd upset.
Liston's Death
billyb71 said: ↑ Sonny Liston's wife found him dead in their Las vegas home on Dec. 30, 1970. She had been visiting her mother and came home early because she couldn't reach Liston. When she found him it was estimated he had been dead for 6 days. The coroner ruled he died of natural heart and respiratory causes. No one believes that including the police who were at the scene. Needle marks were found on his arm and morpheme was found in his system, although not enough to cause death.

Sugar Ray Leonard was Better than Sugar Ray Robinson
Now this isnt a thread about their resumes being compared. (Although I think beating low level professional fighters in most of your fights every 3 weeks is overrated and Tommy Hearns, Roberto Duran and Marvin Hagler were all better than everyone that Robinson beat (yes, they were better than Jake Lamotta). This is talking about their in ring abilities. To me, Sugar Ray Leonard is CLEARLY better as a talent with far more skill.

Discussion in 'Classic Boxing Forum' started by Mike_b, . What are some rumours you've heard about fighters from other fighters? For me: Tony Thompson: sparred with the Klitschko s, couldn't believe how strong/ powerful they were. Numerous fighters: said Margarito cracked hard literally. Miguel Cotto: called Pacquiao the great after going almost 12 rounds with him Sugar Shane Mosley: confessed Pacquiao was the pound for pound king Hi Mike.
