Wow Funny Face sounds like stereo to me. Boy is that excellent mono. The very late Decca monos from around '55 almost sound like stereo. I'll have to listen to Funny Face again. I must have tricked myself into believing it was stereo. Oy. I know that Donen said TPG was mono. I have an 86" LG.
Facts about Perspecta Stereophonic Sound
We restored the original three-channel Perspecta audio for the Shout Blu-ray release of THIS ISLAND EARTH. Many people assume incorrectly that this ingenious system developed by legendary sound engineer C. Robert Fine (Mercury Living Presence) was simply panned mono and nothing more. That is not the case. Utilizing discrete and judicious gain control on all three channels of audio - left/center/right - the sound field was most impressive. Here is the data that I compiled for that release.
Aspect Ratio Documentation
Many people utilize either IMDB or TCM as their research tools for determining the intended widescreen theatrical aspect ratio. As the recent discussion of PLAN NINE FROM OUTER SPACE illustrates, these sites are not always accurate. To determine the correct aspect ratio (the one intended by the director and cinematographer while composing each shot) you have to look at the studio policy and date of production.

First Year of Stereo Records
This page is dedicated to the three enterprising visionaries who brought high-fidelity stereophonic music into the home: Emory Cook of Cook Laboratories; C.E. (Ched) Smiley of Livingston Electronic Corp. and Sidney Frey of Audio Fidelity Inc. The first time the public heard true high fidelity stereophonic sound was in a movie theatre and t hat story can be found on this page: First Year of Stereophonic Motion Pictures .
First Year of Stereophonic Motion Pictures
THE FIRST YEAR OF STEREOPHONIC MOTION PICTURES by Bob Furmanek Unless you were an audiophile with deep pockets in the 1950's, you would have heard true high fidelity stereophonic sound for the first time in a movie theatre. However, twelve years before stereophonic sound first appeared in the home, moviegoers got a taste of audio excellence from the creative genius of Walt Disney.
Blu-ray Review: This Island Earth
Joe Corey | June 26, 2019 | Blu-ray Reviews, Reviews, Top Story | There’s a chance you’ve seen This Island Earth without realizing it. How can that be? Was it released under a different title? Kinda. The science fiction film from the prime of Universal’s atomic age effects era was what Mike and the Bots watched in the Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie. So why should you watch it without the shadows in the front row seats making cracks about the action?
Weegee and 3-D - 3dfilmarchive
This website was created in order to separate fact from fiction. The history of 3-D movies is riddled with errors that have been repeated so many times over the years, 3-D Myths have now become fact. We have collected data on this unique era of film technology for nearly forty years and gladly share it with you to set the record straight.
