Why did you become a journalist?
I became a journalist to provide a voice to those who do not have access to a national platform and to cover topics ignored by most media.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
No, but I was on the yearbook staff. Also worked for the base newspaper at Cannon Air Force Base in New Mexico.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Find an area of reporting that drives your passion, tell the truth, and don't take feedback on articles personally.
When's the best time to pitch you?
Certainly anytime for breaking news in my area of responsibility, but afternoons are best for routine contacts.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
On the lake!
