What was your first job as a journalist?
A proofreader for an inspirational magazine called Group that focused on articles/resources for church youth group leaders.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
Yes...a manual one a long time ago before the fancier Selectrics and Electronics.
How is social media changing news?
Totally upending the old guard and forging a new path in the ether world.
Who's your favorite fictional journalist?
I enjoy writers who can make me feel or challenge me.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
It means we have the responsibility to educate, entertain or encourage others,

Mostly whatever is online to help with research.

Why did you become a journalist?
I became a writer because it's in my blood. I cannot NOT write! I communicate better through writing.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
Yes. I was a Sports Editor one year and Features Editor for another year.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
Although I've written five books, I excel at magazine interview articles.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Read, write, repeat. Keep the fire alive!
What's your favorite drink?
I like Coke.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
Relaxing on my patio and enjoying being outside.

I like to read magazine articles/blogs about writing.
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
That I cannot write what is required. I never back down from a writing challenge.
