What was your first job as a journalist?
My first paying job was working as an entertainment writer for The Daily Targum.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
The first place I ever learned how to type was on a type writer -- my mom was a typist throughout her career and she taught me.
How is social media changing news?
It gets news out to people faster, but it does cause for poor editing, sourcing and errors to happen. I believe this leads to media distrust
Who's your favorite fictional journalist?
Ben Urich from Daredevil.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
To be someone who strives to inform the audience of the truth.
What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
Honestly. Don't vaguely promise anything - just tell me what you need and what can I reasonably expect.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
Wordpress, Photoshop, Word, GoogleDocs, Google Analytics, Trello.
What's your favorite social network?
Instagram.

Why did you become a journalist?
Originally wanted to do sports radio, but I wrote a story in HS and fell in love with it.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
Yes. I wrote a music column called The Mosh Pit and was the photography editor.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
My interview with Marc Maron was the cover story for The Ticket - the Star-Ledger entertainment mag which I grew up reading.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Publish your work often. Most people think the youth are lazy, prove them wrong.
When's the best time to pitch you?
After 5pm.
What's the best pitch you ever got?
Can you interview Marc Maron in 30 minutes, it's the cover story for Friday's entertainment section?
What's the worst pitch you ever got?
Misleading email subjects that make it seem like a big interview is available & it's something lame.
What's your favorite drink?
Coke Zero or Tea from Dunkin' Donuts.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
Hanging with my wife and daughter.
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
Relix Magazine and Entertainment Weekly.
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
I go to concerts, movies and premieres for free all the time.
