calzaghe vs qawi
I love Calzaghe, I think he ranks very well head to head and would at least be competitive with many great fighters that have come and gone. I even think he'd beat Hagler. But Qawi? Not a snowball's chance in hell, imo.
Johnny Bumphus
I saw a thread in the General Forum about the most popular boxers in the history, and somebody answered Johnny Bumphus. I realize he's not the most popular but was he ironic. I looked him up and he had a pretty good record alhough he didn't have the best opposition. George Benton was his trainer and he was a fairly tall guy for the light welterweight division, plus he was a southpaw. Please fill me in about this guy.
John Conteh v James Toney
Discussion in 'Classic Boxing Forum' started by Stevie G, . At Lt.Heavy. The Conteh of 1974/75 v the best version of Toney. Conteh outpoints Toney..easily. Don't want to sound biassed for a fellow Brit but I can't see how Toney can win this. Contehs left would be a nightmare for Toney. Ike Quartey vs Marlon Starling
buzzsaw said: True! But did these 2 boxers ever lose to their equals/peers as Marlon did to Nunn or Blocker? What powderpuff punchers beat Pep? Whitaker? Click to expand... since when was nunn one of starling "peers"??? last i looked he was a huge middleweight....more of a supermiddleweight!! starling was just a welter. to lose on points to a fighter so much bigger who was also considered among the top ten pound for pound at the time is a pretty good achievement.
Lloyd Honeyghan vs. Ricardo Mayorga
Discussion in 'Classic Boxing Forum' started by warchild, . I was trying to think of the most violent and ego charged matchup possible, and this is what I came up with. Both fighters at their best at 147 lbs., who takes it? I say that Honeyghan, enraged from all the pre-fight taunting, charges out in the first round and traps Mayorga in his own corner, then beats him to the canvas.
Henry Maske - Sven Ottke who wins ?
Like amateurs Maske was better fighter : Both fighters fights in the amateurs in the middleweight division , but in profesional Maske in light heavyweight and Ottke in super middleweight. Maske profesional record is : 31-1-0 (11 KO), he lost only one time at 1996 from Virgill Hill and beat him this year in rematch . Ottke profesional record is : 34-0-0 (6 KO) . Ottke is IBF forever super middleweight champion, he protect 15 times world champion belt. Only Calzaghe can be better than him.

Chris eubank vs graciano rochigianni
I scored this a few months ago, when i went back through all the controversial Eubank title defences. Good fight and a tough one to score imne of those ones that i could easily imagine widely varying scorecards if you got, say 10 to 20 people to judge it. Watt and co.
Gene Fullmer vs. Mike McCallum
Discussion in 'Classic Boxing Forum' started by dpw417, . Two of my favorites in this one...The unorthadox Fullmer versus the stylist McCallum... 15 rounds at middle....Who and why? I would pick Gene Fullmer by decision. I think he would out -work McCallum in the trenches with his strength ,stamina, and durability coming into play. And Gene knew how to box when he had to even though it wasn't the classic type of boxing you would see from a Ray Robinson.

You guys need to stop this crap about Castillo
I can see the wheels in motion. Cats looking for a way not to give Hatton credit if he beat Castillo. Im not saying that Hatton will win, but if he does, we will see tons of excuse tend. Oh his Bro died, OH he was worried about not getting paid, Oh he was weight drained, and well past his prime. Regradless to all that, if Hatton wins this fight he will have to fight and he will have to deal with stuff that he hasnt had to deal with in his career. It will be a good win.
