5 new cars I’m mad we don’t get in the U.S.
While the grass may only look greener on the other side of the fence, the cars on the other side of the ocean–and not sold here in the United States–are very much greener. How do I know? Let me present you five cars that I’m mad, angry, exasperated, vexed and fuming about not being sold in America. (That’s five different adjectives, so you know I’m serious.) Now I know how Marlin from “Finding Nemo” feels, but instead of my son going missing, he was taken from me.
Alfa Romeo Giulia 2.0: BMW 3 Series Alternative? | Buyer’s Guide
I believe I'm the only GRMer who's had long term experience with one on account of leasing one for three years. They handle pretty well out of the box with the bit of Italian flair that certain stoic Germanic brands are lacking, and are almost as playful as the Evo X I used to have yonks ago. The engine is a far cry from Alfas of yore and feels more like a tractor.
Honda Civic and CRX: Really as reliable as we remember?
Doesn't have to be a JDM Integra Type R for me, a glassroof CRX SiR would do nicely. Love to have my old '88 si back My first car was a '94 Integra–base model with the automatic. As much fun as that thing was, I can only imagine how much more fun a Civic Si or Integra Type R is. I've said this many times before: The greatest car that I've ever owned was the 1989 Civic Si that I bought new and drove for twelve years and 300k+ miles.
Is there such a thing as too rusty?
I think with the Mini in the picture, the answer is "never, unless the VIN plate rusted away". After all, you can get new bodyshells and they're likely cheaper than repairing all that rust. I think with other bread and butter classics that don't have that kind of parts availability, the boundary for me is if I can find better condition metal for less than it cost to repair what I have.
Hop on the Bandwagon: The E30 Touring Wagon
[Editor's Note: This article is from 2015. Some information may be different. Like what? The first year of the E36 Touring now qualifies as they're older than 25 years old.] Jason Cammisa is your average not-quite-middleaged-looking guy. He wears a collar to work. He lives in California. He hates traffic. He owns a BMW. Nine out of 10 people don’t even notice when he drives by. The 10th person? He runs after Jason. Screaming. Tripping. Flailing.
Could the 86 Coupes Replace the Miata as the Answer?
Perhaps this could be the next Spec Miata, muses longtime pro racer Robb Holland. The car is easy to build, easy to drive and easy to race. The chassis is already popular among enthusiasts, whether the decklid reads Subaru BRZ, Scion FR-S or Toyota 86. “The BRZ feels like a bigger, more powerful Miata,” Robb says. “It still has the same nimbleness that a Miata has but is a bit more stable at the limit.
Fake Out: Spotting Counterfeit Speed Parts
Story by Matt Cramer, Photography as Credited Copycat products have been a fact of life in the performance parts industry for decades. And for a long time, makers of these knockoffs ranged from above-board to sleazy yet legal. There was an ethical line in the sand that even the shady manufacturers just didn’t cross: pretending the fake parts were the genuine articles, taking advantage of a brand’s reputation for quality to sell a cheaply made clone.
