The Classic Horror Film Board-Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986)
Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986) #3433 Viewing Date: 11-28-2010 Posting Date: 1-7-2011 Directed by Leonard Nimoy Featuring William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, DeForest Kelley Country: USA What it is: Star Trek movie A mysterious space probe is sending untranslatable messages into the oceans of the Earth, threatening in the process to destroy the planet. Captain Kirk and his crew discover that the probe is trying to communicate with humpback whales, a species extinct since the 21st century.
The Classic Horror Film Board-Tightrope (1984)
Tightrope (1984) This could be classified as a psycho film, since arguably the killer is a psycho. But the film is interesting for other reasons. The film is also quite (visually) dark, and the intent is to explore darkness within, so the Noir label, while not classically applied could also qualify.
The Classic Horror Film Board-WOLFEN
It's still amazing after all these years that in 1981, after decades of werewolves being forgotten by Hollywood, THREE wolf movies arrived: AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON, THE HOWLING and WOLFEN. While AMERICAN WEREWOLF and THE HOWLING have garnered by far the most attention over the years (and they should, directed by Landis and Dante and skewing closely to film legends), the lesser-known WOLFEN is my favorite.
The Classic Horror Film Board-THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME (1982 TV Movie)
#485 Seen in high school via one of my Social Studies Classes. I believe this was a Hallmark Hall of Fame presentation… not to be confused with the Hallmark Releasing barf bag films, nor anything like the diabetes-inducing chick flick films of contemporary times. Anthony Hopkins is superb as Quasimodo, and Lesley-Anne Down is hands down the most beautiful Esmeralda I have ever seen. Seeing Lesley in this made me forget some of the cute girls in my class for a couple of hours.
The Classic Horror Film Board-Hawk the Slayer

I love all of the recognisable British character actors in it. It's a shame they dubbed Ferdy Mayne's impressive voice though. Jack Palance chews the scenery with the best of them. You have Bernard Bresslaw,Roy Kinnear, Ferdy Mayne, Shane Briant,Patrick Magee,Catriona MacColl, and Jack Palance.
The Classic Horror Film Board-SALEM’S LOT (2024)
The release of the latest film adaptation of Stephen King’s Salem’s Lot has been postponed to April 2023. SALEM’S LOT, directed by Gary Dauberman, was originally slated for release in September this year, but the backlog at post-production and special effects facilities due to the pandemic has caused delays throughout the film industry; SALEM’S LOT is no exception. https://www.thewrap.com/salems-lot-step ...
The Classic Horror Film Board-Luc Besson's Dracula
"We hear this has an origin story element to it exploring in a little more depth the gothic romance between Prince Vladimir and his wife whose loss turns him to forsake God and become a vampire," reports Deadline. "Buyers familiar with Besson’s script tell us there are some epic and potentially spectacular set pieces." Wasn't this already done in Dracula Untold (2014)? Maybe I missed something. The new film is called Dracula - A Love Tale and stars Caleb Landry-Jones as Dracula.
The Classic Horror Film Board-Thankgiving - Eli Roth Directing Feature Version of Grindhouse Trailer
9:59 AM - Feb 04#232024-02-04T09:59+00:00 Rothy’s work has been a bit of a mixed bag for me. Cabin Fever was ok, while Hostel was like a shock to the system, I loved it (seen it a few times since and it doesn’t really stand up), Everything else has been meh. I’ll give it a go but I am not rushing to find it.
The Classic Horror Film Board-Seminal horror movies you liked the first time but went cold on after a second viewing
We've updated our Privacy Policy and by continuing you're agreeing to the updated terms. Share with: Link: Member 1,041796 This happened to me recently with House of Usher (1960). Watched it in an awful pan-and-scan version on Channel 56 Boston for the first time many years ago and really liked it. Could see how seminal it was and why it started a whole new successful horror sub-genre (Poe adaptations that became red hot).
The Classic Horror Film Board-John Landis Wins Price Award...
Vincent Price's wondrous daughter, Victoria, posted on Facebook that John Landis, who among other things directed her father in his memorable Thriller video spooky rap, has been awarded the Price Award. Wrote Victoria: The fourth recipient of The Price Award is John Landis. The Price Award is given by Hollywood Horrorfest and the Vincent Price Family to an artist whose work has achieved equally iconic status in the horror/fantasy genres.

The Classic Horror Film Board-Wes Craven's New Nightmare
I saw several references to this movie throughout this folder, but nothing geared specifically toward it. Just wanted to see what you thought? For me, it's the perfect (and probably only) way to close out the series (although the studio continued to milk the character). I have vivid memories of sitting in a darkened theater in 1984, at the age of 19, and being scared to death by the original Nightmare. Craven perfectly captured that twilight area between dreams and reality, then tightened the noose.

The Classic Horror Film Board-What do you think NESIE would have looked like?
10 minutes ago#12023-09-18T06:43 I mean, this would be the coolest thing EVER!! Hammer meets TOHO!! I just picture a great monster with Yvonne Romain riding on it;s head. YOU CAN'T go wrong with this movie!! This is probably the ultimate movie tragedy this never got made. But imagine this monster!!
The Classic Horror Film Board-Stereo (1969)
We've updated our Privacy Policy and by continuing you're agreeing to the updated terms. Share with: Link: 13K11,465 Cronenberg's first is one of the worst movies I've ever seen or heard since it's basically a silent movie with narration about telepathy and ESP. The visuals really have nothing to do with the voice over narration, so may have been better as a record rather than a movie. Hard to believe that he went on to better things after seeing this.
