I was a copy editor.

How is social media changing news?
it's making everyone think they can be a journalist which isn't necessarily true. The same rules apply as always have in the past.

What does it mean to be a journalist?
to always represent the truth and be responsible when someone trusts you to share information.

I like it when community members give me news tips

Why did you become a journalist?
because I love sharing new things with others and help in the community by sharing my knowledge.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
Yes. I was a sports and hard news reporter. I wrote stories on whatever topics my editor assigned to me.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
A story about how Denver Broncos defensive back Taurean Nixon assists in the community.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
do your best to get the facts and always be honest to your readers, listeners, whoever.
When's the best time to pitch you?
daytime, nighttime, anytime :)
What's the best pitch you ever got?
the opportunity to do stats for the SWAC junior college basketball tournament.
What's the worst pitch you ever got?
I was told that Salt Lake Tribune sports editor Dick Rosetta would be in the town next to me but he didn't show up
What's your favorite drink?
Orange Crush
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
I like to go hiking and swimming. A water park is my favorite place to be in the summer :)

What's the most common misperception about your beat?
people think that I'm not a reporter always
