We are inundated with information 24/7, which is why it feels so nice to turn off and disengage once in awhile.

Why did you become a journalist?
To tell stories. I'm a storyteller at heart.

Yes. And middle school, too. I've been a journalist for as long as I can remember.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
A cover story highlighting Albuquerque's creative economy and its potential to spur job growth in New Mexico.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Be persistent. Ambition and drive go a long way to separate you from the crowd.
When's the best time to pitch you?
Late night or early morning. I usually answer e-mails first thing when I get into the office.
What's the best pitch you ever got?
One for a book release for a topic that I was writing about that week. Seriously, editorial calendars are your best friends! :)
What's the worst pitch you ever got?
A press release with a string of indecipherable product parts by a manufacturing company. Jargon = bad.
What's your favorite drink?
Anything alcoholic.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
Coffee shop or networking mixer.

What's the most common misperception about your beat?
That business is boring. It really isn't. I enjoy highlighting the stories of the people and personalities behind the companies and deals.
