Dr. BRANDY SCHILLACE (skil-AH-chay) is a historian, journalist, mystery writer, and TV personality. She is author of the critically acclaimed nonfiction MR. HUMBLE AND DR. BUTCHER and a new transgender history, THE INTERMEDIARIES--as well as THE FRAMED WOMEN OF ARDEMORE HOUSE, a mystery novel and first in a series. Brandy's books have been reviewed in Science Magazine, the New York Times, the Boston Globe, New Yorker, Washington Post, the Wall Street Journal and more.
Dr. Schillace is host of the Peculiar Book Club, a livestream community of authors and readers, and has appeared on Travel Channel’s Mysteries at the Museum, NPR’s Here and Now, the History Channel, and most recently, THE UNBELIEVABLE with Dan Aykroyd.
Schillace has bylines at Scientific American, Globe and Mail, HuffPo, WIRED, WSJ, and Crime Reads. Dr. Schillace is a 2018 winner of the Arthur P. Sloan Science Foundation award, and the 2024 recipient of the The Royden B. Davis, S. J., Distinguished Author Award. Brandy continues to work as editor-in-chief of BMJ’s Medical Humanities Journal focused upon issues of accessibility and social justice. Areas of special concern: history of science, history of medicine, LGBTQ history/rights, disability rights and justice, bioethics of tech, death/dying/grief, autism and neurodiversity.
