Editorial: Courthouse in limbo, RICO residents in the dark
Tuesday wasn't a very good day for Rock Island County leaders eager to restore public confidence in the county board. It certainly looked an awful lot like the failed politics of the past when a hard-fought preliminary agreement setting a deadline for determining the fate of the old courthouse died due to lack of a second.Board members who successfully fought against what they believed was an effort last month to steamroll through demolition of the historic structure smell a conspiracy.

Editorial: It's your courthouse, RICo; share your view
An immediate vote on demolishing the old Rock Island County Courthouse no longer appears to be the done deal proponents of saving it once feared. We were pleased to learn Monday that a growing number of county board members oppose ramming through a vote this month on knocking down the building, despite enormous economic pressure on the cash-strapped county to do so.Board vice chairman Richard Brunk said Monday he and others intend to ask at the committee of the whole meeting Wednesday that...

RI's Tucker growing into his role
ROCK ISLAND — The great basketball shooters know they will have nights when the ball just will not go in. Big 6 questions for Big 6 boys' basketball
For those who enjoy parity, the Western Big 6 Conference boys' basketball race in 2016-17 was right up their alley.Rock Island, United Township and Quincy shared the title with 7-3 records and Moline finished one game behind.
